Res 00-05HTHE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MOUND RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ADOPTING NEW COMMUNITY SERVICE POLICY EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2000. WHEREAS, the Mound Housing and Redevelopment Authority has now in effect a Public Housing Community Service Policy; and WHEREAS, said policy is out of date m~d needs to incorporate the new roles and regulations that have been passed. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Connnissioners of the Mound Housing and Redevelopment Authority that the new Community Service Policy, as attached, will be come effective February 1, 2000. Pat Meisel, Chairperson Date Date J ,11 I Community Service Policy Effective February 1, 2000 The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998 requires each adult resident of public housing to contribute 8 hours of community service per month to thc community in which thc family resides. Exempted arc those who arc employed, elderly, disabled, participating in an economic self sufficiency program, excluded from the state's work requirements or enrolled on a qualifying state program. The Housing Authority must monitor thc family's compliance annually and if the family fails to comply, the Housing Authority must not renew the lease unless the family and the Housing AUthority enter into an agreement to bring the resident current with owed hours. The Mound Housing and Redevelopment Authority will on or before January 1, 2000 notify all families that appear to meet the community service requirements. Instructions will be provided that will include contacting the Mound Housing Authority's Executive Director to register for community service. Any resident found to be in noncompliance with the federal regulations will have 30 days to makeup any missed hours. Failure to make complete 8 hours of community service per month will result in termination of thc tenants lease upon cxpiration.
