Reslmonding %0 roll-call were Mayor Louise Hues%is, Trustees ~. ~'. ~VInkel, Evan Jones, and H. J. Zondorf, with .~lwin s~s ~e¢or~r. The meet~ing opened with a hearin~ given bids on a contract %o lay water mai~s on Plummet Ave., which, when completed, will classify as ~r~oJec~ No. 7. Present to submit bids were ~. J. Jacobs of Bird Island, ~¢inneeota, The industrial contracting Co. of ~Inneapolis,, and ~ax T, orensen of .i'~inneapolls. There was present a forth 'Oldder, but he later wi~Wdrew his bid. ~efore t~e bidding got under way, the question arose as to whether the council had completed all necessary legal steps to make way for the reception of bids. Acc. ordtng to thenflndings it was discovered that the council had failed to pass a resolution recording the acceptance by the council of the soecifloations oreoared by Engineer Walter T. ~adsen, and that S~Ch def~,uT%g~ Jeops~rdir~ the s~le ~f village commercial p~,per. ~,.n~r the circumstances it was moved by '~'rustee Jones that all bids'~ presented be held sealed and cerrled over for opening at an adjourned Hegular ~feetlng dated for ~arch 10th, 1942, at 8 P. ~. This meeting to be contingent upon the proposition that in the mean- ti~e step~ would be tkken to adjust the legsl~difftculty. This c lrcU~stance was disclosed to the bidders and they all agreed and w ii hdrew. ~,¢ayor Nuestis stressed before the council the importance of the work of the local Civilian ~efemse organization and the need of some apnropriation for this work on the part of the village. Responding to the suggestion, Trustee Hondorf moved that the village aporopriate the sum of $25.00 toward Civilian Defense work and that a village warrant be drawn to the Name of Jacob Mohl, local civilian defense director. ~Thls motion was supported by Alwin, the rest of the council concurring. ~ased on the findings of L. C. Dodds and presented by _~ayor Muestis, Trustee Rond0rf moved that the village discontinue its monthly ~2.00 apDroprlations towards the maintenance of a district recreational office at Robbinsdale, Minnesota. This motion was seconded by Trustee Winkel, the rest of the council agreeing. Engineer Walter T. ~.adsen reported on a conference with County Eogineer ~illiam Ducker with referene~e to an agreement be%ween the County and the village covering the operation and maintenance of the Oounty Pump. According to Mr Madsen, the County had completely withdrawn from any interest in the well, that the original ease- ment had gone by default, that the lot ~nd well bad gone back into the full possession ~nd control of the village, and th2. t the pump and motor alone remained County ~roperty and which the County would remove on demand. The County was agreed to leave the Dump for village use for the consideration of $1.00. In the above connection Superintendent J. H. Stat%s introduced Mr. j. W. Johnson of the Peerless Pump Division of the Food ~achinery Corporation, who explained how a $1,300.00 low speed ~terling Turbine pump would operate satisfadorily against village main pressure and give the village a satisfacory auxiliary pumping unit with a capacity of 200 gals. per minute. 630 VILLAGE Of MOUND In connection with the acquisition by the village of Lots b5 & part of Lot 56, ~&L, Ravenswood, Alwin offered the following res~lution for adoption: ~EREA~, this Council has this day received from the land Commissioner aooointed pursuant to Laws 1935, Chapter 386, ~eotion ll lists of land in the village of Mound, which have become the absolute oroperty of the ~tate of ~innesota under the provisions of Laww declaring the forfeiture of lands to. the qtate ~or taxes, which l~nds ~re desired by the Village of Noumd for playground and park purposes and identified as List 24-C, .~arch 2, 1942, ~nd ~EREA$, this Council has rgcelved the said Land Uommlsslo. ner's recommendation that each parcel of land de~crlbed in said lists be classified as non conservalion; and WMEREAS, this Council has made a complete examination of all facts and circumstances relating to such parcels, Now, therefore, acting pursuant to the provisions of Laws of 19&l, Ghapter 51], Be it Resolved that this ~ouncil 'classify each parcel of land described in said list 24-C .as non conservation land. After %he motion to adopt the above resolution was duly seconded by Trustee Winkel, the question was on the adoption of the resolution and the roll being called there were rive yeas and no hayes, and so the resolution was adopted. tn connection with the verbal petition of John ~cPhee for an ad3ustment of the J. I. ,V~oore water account and his proffer of ~35.00 in full settlement - this in view of the fact that ~n adjustment had a%ready been made to $41.23 on a Faulty Firs~ ©u~r%er, 19~l, meter reading - it wa~ moved by t~ustee Rondorf tb~t the check of $35.00 bw returned to John .~cPhee and that the ad3u~tment to S41.23 be made to stand. This motion was supported by Alwin, the rest of the council concurring. Trustee w lnkel mowed that %he Earl Olson bill of $15.O0 for pump house ~uel be paid upon proper verific~tion end signature. '~Ith the exception of the uraae Co. bill for water supnlies, and the ~urroughs Adding ~achine Co. bill, which awaited the state Auditor's report for a proper allocation, x'rustee ~inkel moved that all of the following properly lls~ed b~lls be paid~ Geo.
