The purpose of this meet~.ng was to hear the report of the co~mittee on i~ransite Pipe as a substitute for cast iron in the Plummet ~venue · ~In extension, following which the council was to consider the bids submitied on ~.~ar. 3rd, and. again reviewed at the adjourned meeting of ?ar. 10th. Responding to roll call at this meeting were ~./~ayor Louise Muestis, ~rustees ~/~'tnkel and ~xondorf, with ~%lwin as Recorder· After listening to the not unfavorable report of ~ngineer .Walter T. 5~adsen, who with %~ayor Muestis had conferred with the ~?;ater Depart- ment of New Ulm, ~?innesota, who had 50,000 ft of '~ransite in use, it was decided by Trustee !¥inkel that, regardless of its comend, able qualities, the dursbility of ~ranslte was still unknown, snd that, in order to avoid readvertising for the purpose of allowing other bld~ers to submit bids on %'ransite, the bid be let on a basis of cast iron, as originally advertised. In this connection he offered the following resolutions:and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, the V~llage of ¥ound having advertised for bids for the construction of ~"~ater ~ain Extension No. 7, also known s.s the Plum~mer Avenue extension, and having received three sesled bids accompanied by certified cheeks for such construction, to be ~ade in accordance with the pla~ and specifications heretofore made and filed in the office of the Village Clerk and whereas said sealed bids having [:'een duly opened and having k~een found to be as follows: 1..~ax ~!orenson, contractor, amount of bid $2,554.25 2. Industrie. 1 ~ontracting Co., contractor, amount of bid ~2,452.00 · J. Jacobs, contractor, amount of bid $2,629.25. And whereas it ha~ been found that the lowest bid for said construction has been made by the Industrial Contracting Co., which bid was in all respects in conformity with the published notice and wss accompanied with a certified check in the sum of f~300.00, together width an offer to give bond to the village of ~ound in the sum of ~2,500.00 for the faithful performance of such construction. Now, therefore, it is hereby resolved that the work of construct- ing said water main i~provement No. 7 be awarded to industrial ~ontraeting Company, and that the contrac~ submitted by said contractor be approved and that the same be exeeuted on behalf of the ~illage of ~ound by the president and clerk of this council Trustee Rondor~ having seconded the motion for the adoption of the above resolution, the vote of the council stood unanimous. And so the resolution stood adopted. In connection with the above, there being no street crossing to be charged, it was mo~ed by Trustee Winkel that the village assu~e the cost of placing one hydrant. This was supported by Trustee Hondorf, the council agreeing. ~y general agreement of ~he council, and without motion, the clerk was authorized to confer with the Ins~rsmnCe Agency of ,~henState ~ank of '.~ound for ihs purpose of getting s~ rebate on Public Liability Insur- &~® covering a bath house ths~t had been removed from Village Park premises. 636 VILLAGE OF MOUND On a motlon by Alwin the ~;ayor was authorized to a.ooolnt a committee of two authorized to purchase flurescent lights for ~he park Oavl]~lon, such murcbase to hold itself under ~100.00. This motion was seconded by Trustee Rondorf, the rest o~ the council agreeing. pavilion, the contants of which were briefly outlined, in the minutes of Feb. 26th, 1942, and. which lease was read before the council, it was moved by Trustee ~?Inkel that the council acceot the !ease as presented and that the ~'!ayor and the Clerk be authorlz~d to sign it on behalf of the village. This motion was concurred in by trustee Hondorf, the council agreeing. .~.fter a review of the fire insurance contracts covering the stock of the' !~uniclpal Iiquor 2tore, it being determined that, under a co- insurance clause reouiring the maintenance of 90~ of the whole stock insured, the coverage would come under a lower rate, and it being discovered thazthe actual licuor stock was far in excess, of 90% of the insurance coverage, ~he clerk was authorized to confer wiDh the .... ound Ps. nk Insurance Agency for a ~ownwar0 a. 0.
