June 2nd, t942.
Responding to roll call were Mayor Louis Muestis, Trustees Evan
Jones, ~. J. Rondorf, and Calvin Inman, with Alwin as Recorder.
The minutes of the Nay meetings having been read and approved, the
chair granted a hearing to 5{rs. Milton Uner who personally petitioned
for a revision of the Plummet Ave ',?ater ~ain assessment with respect
%o Lots 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20 - all owned by her - on the ground
that an assessment of $113.61 against marsh lots of small value was
confiscatory. A hearing on this assessment already having been adver%is~
ed and held snd approving action taken by the council on the as~ess-
merit, '~rustee Jones moved that action on the petition be deferred
to a special meeting dated for Friday, June 5th, 1942, so. that clrcum-
stances could first be properly inl~estigated. This motion was sup-
ported by Inman, the council agreeing.
The chair declared the meeting ready' to receive sealed bids on the
purchase by the village of a deep well turbine pump. Present for the
bidding were ~a-. C. O. Nelson for ~Wai~bank Morse & Co., Glen Madden
for ~'adden Pump & ~qui~ment Co., and F. J. $chlieslng, Manager Pomona
Pump Department of Crane Company. The bids were opened and read in the
order named,oresenting the following: Bid of Fairbanks Morse & Co.,
$1,053.00; bid of Madden Pump & E~uloment Co., $1 505.00; bid of
Crane Company, $1,575.00. ' ~ '
~'ollowin~ the above, it was moved by Jones that the councllngive a
hearing of ten minutes to .each bidder in the order n~me~, ~nd after
clearing the chamber, and then go into executive session. This
motion was supported by Trustee Inman, the council concurring.
In executive session Trustee Jones moved that action on the bids be
deferTe~ until the special meeting dated for Friday', June 5th, 1942.
This motion was seconded by '~rustee Inman and carried by the council.
u~Alwin, with the suoport of Trustee M. J. Rondorf, moved that the
council transfer $2,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the General Fund.
This motion wasccarried by the council.
On a motion by Trustee Jones, the clerk was authorized to write an
order on the village treasurer to pay $25.00 to P. en Wetland, as chief
of t~e Fire Department, as a village donation to defray part of the
cost of sending dele]gates to the Fire Men's ~onvention at Shakopee.
This mo%ion was supported by trustee Inman, the whole of the council
Alwin moved that ~,{ayor Huestis be authorized as a delegate to attend
the ~innesota League of ~unicipalities Convention at Ely, Minnesota,
on June 15, 16, s. nd 17th, 1942. This motion was seconded by trustee
Rondorf, the rest of the council agreeing.
On a motion by Alwin, Trustee Rondorf seconding, the council authorized
the payment of $60.00 out of the LiQuor to the Mound Village Fire
De pa rtme nt.
Trustee Jones moved, Trustee Rondorf supporting, that th~ following bills
be paid. This motion was carried by the council:
