~INUTEN OF THE REGULAR ~ETING OF THE MOUND VILLAGE COUNCIl, HELD
September 1st, 1942.
Responding to roll call at this meeting were Mayor Loui~.e Huestis,
Trustees Nvan Jones, R. J. Rondorf, and Calvin Inman, with Alwin as
Recorder.
!.~he minutes of the previous meetings, also the treasurer's report -
in the absence of the ~reasurer - having been rea~ and approved, and
following a discussion of the bogged condition of ~ontclair Avenue in
Unit "A" of ~hirley Mills, it was move~ by Trustee R. J. Rondorf that
En~ineer tV. T. ~.~sdsen be hired by the village to make a survey toward
e~tablishing a proper drain for the erea. Alwin supported this motion,
the council concurring.
'Vith reference to ~ previous motion owitc'hlng a P.L. ond property dom~ge
policy on the village w~.ter truck from the J. P. Reed ~Lgency to the
Arthur Holm0ui~t Agency, it was moved by Trustee Jones that, recindlng
all previous motiono to the contrary, the insurance on the villoge
water truck be retained by the J. P. Reed Agency, ~,nd that the Mo~ui~t
~gency be given a 5-year ?~re Policy on the building and eoutpment of
Village Pump No. 2. This motion received the second of Trustee ~nman
and was carried by the council.
Trustee Evan Jones moved that the village advertise for bids on the
sqaling and painting of the village w~ter tank and column, o. lso on
the repairing of the insulation o~ the column, ?nd that Engineer ~. T.
~adsen be authorised to suoply the specifications to appeor in the
advertisement. This motion wos supported by E. J . Rondorf, the co~cil -.~
agreeing. ~ .~
B~ general agreement and without motion the council authorized the
Clerk to proceed in the following:
To write to the Under~riters Inspection Bureau with reference to
the influence on local lnsnrance rates of the acoui~ition of e. ur
additional fire fighting unit ~nd the installation of a second village
deep-well pump.
~urther, to write to E. C. ~treater with reference to the ~uoolying
of the reouired blueprints covering new pl~ttings in the ~4hirley Hills
District.
Also to write to Mrs. Kathleen L. Jones with reference .to the council's
agreement to i~prove the condition of the water in the m~ins in her neighbor-
hood.
Trustee Jones moved that the chair apooint a committee of two to investS-
ate the price on posts to support name-plates for village streets.
Trustee Inman seconding the motion, the chsir appointed both Jones and
Inman on the committee, the council ~greeing.
In connection with the village tax levy for 1943 collection, Trustee
R. J. Rondorf presented the following resolution ~nd moved its adoption:
to wit:
RESOLVED that the levy for village purposes for the year 1943
shall be as follows:
General Fund ..................... $ 8,000.00
Poor Fund 400 OS
Road Improvement Fund ............ 3,607.50
Total ................... $12,007.50

Trustee Jones seconding the motion for the adopttOn¥of the above
resolution, the vote of a full council stood unanimous.
~,~r. G~orge Eugster aopeared before the co%unciI petitioning for
a drain for the alley back of Lots 18 to 30 inclusive, Lynwold Ps_rk,
to take care of the overflow of water from the e'levated atheistic
field of the ~o~dlConsolidated flchool. It was. the concensus of
opinion of the council that it was the resoonsibilit, y of the sehbol
to supply ~ proper dr~in for this ~rtiflci~lly conceived w~tershed
and Trustee Rondorf was 8uthorized to interview the ~chool ~o~rd on
the ms~tter.
Trustee Evan Jones moved that a. ll f~ll-time employees of the villsge,
of a ~earSs stsnding, be given ~ week's vacation with p~y. Alwln
seconded this motion, the council ~greeing.
