SPECIAL MEETING, MAY 1, 19~1.
8:00 p.m. Krause Building.
Meeting called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor Davis.
Ail present.
Hearing
Publicg Held to take action on petition signed by
J. M. aichardson, j. 4. Krause, R. J. aondorf and Byron Nvgaard
to relocate the alley in the business block between the Great
Northern tracks and the Watertown Road.
All the petitioners and the other property owner concerned,
Z~alph March, seem to be agreed on everything except the width of
the alley. Present alley was 12 feet wide. ~oe Krause insisted
that the new alley should be wider. He wanted the council
to agree to take steps to acquire a strip of the adjoining
pro~rertv owned by Charles Johnson for additional width. The
council would not agree to condemnation. Village Attorney
Herb Wolner was_~o.~ontact the Johnson-:~famil~ in regard to
donation of an~~~ strip of land. No other
commitment was made.
Several of the peo:~le present for t~e hea~ ing on the
alley relocation were property owners along the uroposed
impr0ve~ent of highway No. 110 so the project wa~ bro~ght
up. All seemed to favor improvement, only distrib~.tion of
co st was disputed.

thought curbing was desirable on the new road. Mr. Asch. enback,

the necessity of curb. Zi~erman said length of curb or curb
a g~tter would be 3626 and length of extension was 20~¢ feet
from No. 7 to No. 15. &t request of village manager he had
obtained cost estimates of straight curb .and combined gurb and
p:utter. Curb alone would be Wl.~0; curb ~d gutter ~2.00 per
foot. School board wished more time to discuss the matter.
Zimmerman and Ainsworth both tried to stre8s urgenc~r of the
curb ?,nd gutter. Said county board would soon adopt policy
of i~prov~n~ and mainti~ only 24 feet of roadway un~ess curb
was inc]uded.
~ Another large landholder along the exte~iou,
Wolner, ob,]ected to curb enclosing 38 feet of road on an 80-ft.

........ Tenativel,? agreed that/village would pay for village
share of surfacing, drain~age and half cost of curb ~ gutter.
.&buttin?' 0ropertv owners would pay for sid~rwalks and h~aher
