VILLAGE OF MOUND

Thursday, Aug'ust 23, 19~1.
MEETING called to order but l~avo~ Davis at ~$:t~ p.m. in the
village office. Co~ncil~en Bi~, Pierce and l~hite presant.
Manager Storey, ~ngineer Charles Gates of Toltz, King and
Da~, and ~rank ~ell¥ of Wolner & Kelllr also on hand. Wal~er
Carlson of Park Construction Co., successful bidder on
Highway No. 110 improvement , arrived late.
After discussing the problem of a slope easement on
propert~ owned b~v Thomas P. and irene Bergin on the east side
of No. 110 the following RESOLUTION was offered by White:
WHE~aS, a delay appears unavoidable in the ~hntractor being
able to start work on the improvement of State Trunk Highway
No. 110 because the village is unable to secure a slope
easement for 760 and ~100 feet along the right-of-way
without expending an excessive amount of village ~monev, now,
therefore,
B~ IT RESOLVED, that t~e ma~or and village manager be auth-
orized to enter ino an agreement with. the P~k Construction
Co. of Minneapolis to extend the existing contract to a
designated date in 19~a, and
B~ IT FURTH~R RESOLFED, that the village attorney be autho-
rized to proceed with a condemnation suit to acquire the
necessar~ slope easement, and
BE IT FU~T~ER RESOLVED, that the village manager be author-
ized to request continuation of the agree'~ent with the State
Hi~hwav~ Department to share in the cost of t]~e improvement
into 19~2.
Second by Pierce. On a Roll Call vote there were four
aves and no nays.
On recom~en~ation of the manager the council aathorized the
Greyhound Bus Lines to construct a ~urn-around behind t~hs
tin shed so the buses would not have to make the loop around
the alle? to turn around. ~r. Mitchell had requested that the
besses not use t¼e alley except to get to and from the garage
when he agreed to deed the village ten feet for the alley.
The request had not been imple'mented.
