PUBLIC HEARING on re-~oning of commercial property in the vicinit~T of Mound P~rk. Notice of heari~g was read. Resolution from Planning and ~oning Commission recommending c~.~nge from com. to ~esidential ~ad. Bernie ~inkel asked about rest of property south of ~.^~i]lia~s Shoe Store. Ed Bjerke gave his objections to any change in t~e zoning of his lot on the corner of 110 ~nd !'~o.7. P.M. David voiced bis objection to t~e property re~ining co~mercial and no restriction being placed on t~oe use. Village &ttorne~ Herb Wolner in answer~ to a quest on fro~ Ma~or Davislstated that he thu~ght he could draft an amendment to t_~.e Zoning ~rdinance which would permit most co~mer~al uses but still eliminate objectionable one~. Winkel MOVED~ BI¥ seconded, that the matter be tabled until the ~ctober ~ meeting. Carried. Letter from W.C. Freitag, the engineer who iuspected the village's fire fighting facilities, earl~? in the year, read to the council. In reply to a question from the villa~?~ ~anager Freitag stated Mound could save fro~ 1500 to 2~00 dollars a year in fire insurance p~miu~s on commercial, ~,~blic and industrial b~ildings by changing its classification from 8 to 7. Three things were keeping ~'~ound in Class 8--1.The condition of fire department ~ainte~ance, 2. the limited building construction ordinance and .toning ordina~ce, and 34 the lsck of a ~ire prevention ordinance. The ~anager was advised to take appropriate steps to co~plv with the recommendations of the inspector. BI¥ offered the following WH[~i!-~:~S, a petition was received from representatives of School~X~W~ District No. S5 and a duly advertised hearing was held by t!oe council os October 2-3, 1950, f~]lo~ing which the council unan. adopted a resol~tion authorizing purchase of land for right-of- way for the e~tension of Coantv Road Uo. 125 in Shirley ~ills and t~e transaction was made , and, ~HE~E~S, the costs of the right-of-wa~ purchase were to be ~ssessed according to benefit and an sssersment roll has been prepared and is on file in the village office, now, t~erefore, BE IT ~SOLVED, that a hearing on this proposed assessment will be held in the basement of the Kra~se Building on Monday, October 8, 19~1, and t~e village manager is hereby a.~thorized to provide for pablication of a notice of t~is hearing thirty days prior to that date.
