HOUSE N~NBERING The Junior Chamber of Commerce has offered their services on the street signs ~ house number project. A~a~s moved, Livingston seconded, and it was~unanimously carried to have the Village Manager give personal direction to this project and to accept the .~'Jr; Chamber of Commerce' s offer. WAGE DISCUSSION Adams moved, Livingston seconded and it was unanimously carried to pay Fern Aplund 5~ more per hour, making the total increase 15~ per hour. Livingston moved, Adams seconded, and it was unanimously carried to give the Street Department employees time and one-ha3~ for Saturday work, work to be done only at discretion or order of Village Manager. Present were Ma~or Behmler, Trustees Adams, Lockhart and Livingston a~ Manager Boxell. Minutes of the regular meeting of February 13, 1957 were read. Livingston moved, Adams seconded and it was unanimously carried to approve the minutes as read. Minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of February 18, 1957 were read. Adams moved, Lockhart seconded, and it was unanimously carried to ~pprove the minutes as read. Minutes of the adjourned regular ~eting of February 27, 1957 were read. Adams moved, Livingston seconded, and it was unanimously carried to amend these minutes in regard to the investing in C.D.'s of $20,646.81 in the P.I.R. Sinking Fund. FIRE DEPA~MENT CO~4ITTEE Lockhart moved, Adams seconded, and it was unanimously carried to ask the Firemen to select a committee of Firemen to meet with the Village Council in regard to purchasing a fire truck and also discuss Fire Department problems. LOST LAKE PROJECT Adams moved, Lockhart seconded, and it was unanimously carried to contact Herbert Wolner by night letter in regard to items in the Contract of Deed signed by him in regard to property involved in the Lost Lake project. MARINE BASE A petition has been received from Vincent Johnson to rezone the following property from residential to commercial: Commencing 630.2 feet west of the southeast quarter (S.E.½) of Govt. Lot 8, thence east 160 feet, thence north to center of county road, thence southwesterly along the center line of said road to a point 250 feet southwesterly from a point due north of a point 872.6 feet east of meander corner number 30, thence south to beginning together with a strip of land ten feet wide to the west of and adjoining the VILLAGE OF MOUND ]_725. line last described, e~ept road, all in Section 13, Township 117, Range 24. REFRIGERATED MIIK DISPENSER The Franklin Co-Operative Creamery Association has requested the installa- tion of a refrigerated milk dispenser next to Sorensen's Drug Store. Work Week Liquor Store Employees Monday through Saturday, 40 hrs. per week, except part-time & extra help to be used as needed, and police personnel to work ~4 hours per week as needed & Street Department Monday through Friday, 40 hrs. per week. O~ertime Principle of compensatory time to be employed for Liquor Store employees and Police Department. In regard to Street Depart- ment the following rates will apply for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: Saturdays - Time and one-half Sundays --- Double time Holidays -- Regular time plus holiday pay Holidays The following legal holidays will be observed as paid holidays for the Liquor Store: New Years Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas Good Friday - ½ day If the above dates fall on Sunday, get Monday off. The Street Department and the Police Department are to receive the above-mentioned holidays plus Washington's Birthday. Election days to be observed as paid holidays by liquor store employees only. 5. Sick Leave Sick Leave shall be accumulated at one day per month up to 60 days. Vacations to be granted at the rate of l0 working days (2 full weeks) with f~ll pa7 after one year. Such vacations will be taken when Village Manager or department head shall designate. When a designated holiday occurs during the vacation period of an employee, he shall be entitled to an additional day's vacation. Vacation days are not cumu- lative past the end of each year and vacation periods cannot be worked on a double time basis. SINKING FUND BONDS Ad~m~ presented the following resolution and moved its adoption: BE IT RESOLVEDby the Village Council of the Village of Mound, Minnesota to recall $20,000 of the outstanding P.I.R. Sinking Fund Bonds for the years 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960 due on October 1 of each year, as of April 1, 1957. Livingston seconded, and on roll call the vote was as follows: Behmler Yea Adams Yea Lockhart Yea Livingston Yea and so the resolution was passed. VILLAGE MANAGER Adams moved, Lockhart seconded, and it was unanimously carried to rehire Manager Boxell for 1957 at a salary of $5,500 a year, retroactive to January l, 1957. PLANNING COMMISSION Leighton Lindlan appeared as a representative of the Mound Chamber of Com- merce in regard to a planning commission. Lockharb moved, Adams seconded, and it was unanimously carried to ask the Mound Chamber of Commerce committee to submit a sample ordinance to the council setting up a planning commission, a sample plan for organization of the com- mission itself, and also to check on the legality of a planning commission under Plan B of government. Adams moved, Lockhart seconded, and it was unanimously carried to adjourn to a meeting Mar~h 20, 1957 for the purpose of financing of fire truck and dis- cussion on problems of the Fire Department.
