1957-12-04VILLAGE OF MOUND 178! CANVASSING BOARD MEETING, December 4, 1957 The Council meeting as a canvassing board was called to order at 8:00 P.M. at the Fire Station. Present were Mayor Behmler, Trustees Livingston, Adams, Brazman and Manager Boxell. Mrs. Louise Huestis, Election Clerk, presented the election returns to the Council. Brazman offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: ~HEREAS, on December 3, 1957 a Village Election ~ms duly held in the Village of Mound for the elction of a Mayor, one (1) trustee for a term of three years, a Justice of the Peace for the term of two (2) years, and a Constable for the term of two (2) years; also two (2) issues: 1. Shall optional Plan A, modifying the standard plan of Village Government by providing for the appointment by Council of the clerk, treasurer, and assessor, be adopted for the government of the Village of Mound, Minnesota? 2. Shall the Mound Village Council be authorized to issue not to exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) in bonds for the purpose of making improvements where necessary to correct the Village Manicipal Liquor Store situation? and ~HEREAS, the judges for said Election having duly counted the votes cast therein, proclaimed the results and recorded the same in the tally books pro- vi~ed for the purpose as follows: Mayor 2 years E. And, Whereas, pursuant to M.S.A. #212.36, the Village Council shall meet as a canvassing board and declare the results appearing from said returns, And, ~hereas, pursuant to said statute, the Village Council now meets as a canvassing board for such purpose, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the following persons are declared elected to the following offices: Mayor Trustee Justice of the Peace Constable E. J. Behmler H. Bert Larson Karl Gruhn John Skinner and that the following issues were defeated: Optional Plan A Bond Issue $25,000.00 (Liquor) · The Village Clerk is hereby instructed to give written notice to each per- son 'chosen of his election to the office nsmed and to certify the results of said election to the County Auditor. Adams seconded the motion to adopt said resolution and on roll call the vote was as follows: Livingston Yea Brazman Yea Adams Yea Behmler Yea and so the resolution was passed. Livingston moved that the cotmcil adjourn and reconvene for any present business. Brazman seconded, and it was unanimously carried. STREET DECOPJ~TION FOR CHPJSTMAS Brazman moved to instruct the Chamber of Commerce to proceed with the Christmas decoration program, also to grant permission to hang street decorations in the business district of Mound. Adams seconded, and on roll call the vote was as follows: Adams Yea Brazman Yea Behm ler Yea Livingst on Nay On motion the meeting adjourned. Motion by Brazman, seconded by Adams.
