1959-01-13VILLAGE OF MOUND 907 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING of January 13, 1959 - 8:00 P.M. at Mound Fire Station Present : Mayor Behmler, Trustees Byron Peterson, Gordon Batdorf, A. S. Brazman, Manager Boxell and Attorney Ploetzo Minutes of the December 9, 1958 regular meeting were read. Batdorf moved the minutes be accepted as read, Brazman seconded the motion, the vote was unanimously in favor. So carried and accepted. Minutes of the adjourned meeting of December 30, 1958 were read. Brazman moved the minutes be accepted as read. Peterson seconded the motion, the vote was unanimously in favor. So carried and accepted. The monthly bills were presented. The vote was unanimously in favor; so OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS for the year 1959 On Resolution by Peterson, seconded by Batdorf the State Bank of~ Mound was designated as the official depository for the Village of Mound, Minnesota for the year 1959. Brazman Aye Behmle r Aye OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER On resolution by Brazmau~ and seconded by Peterson, the Minnetonka Pilot was designated as the Official Newspaper for the Village of Mound, Minnesota for the year 1959. ACTING MAYOR On resolution by Peterson and seconded by Batdorf, Trustee Brazman was designated as Acting Mayor for the year 1959, for the Village of Mound, Minnesota. HEALTH OFFICER FOR THE VILLAGE OF MOUh~ On resolution by Brazman seconded'byBatdorf, Dr. Kenneth Romnesswas named as the Village Health Officer for the year 1959. On roll call the vote was as follows: Batdorf Aye Peterson Aye Brazman Aye Behmler Aye So carried and so named. VILLAGE OF MOUND '1909 On resolution by Peterson seconded by Batdorf, the following w~re named to the Mound Board of Health: Dr. Kenneth Romness~ Health Officer; Harold Peterson, Building Inspector; and Lloyd Bowers, Fire Marshall. BOAHD OF HEALTH On resolution by Brazman and seconded by Peterson, it was ~resolved that all checks or draftS drawn on Village Funds shall be signed by the Mayor, Treasurer and the Village Manager. SIGND~G CEKS Batdorf resolved and Brazman seconded, a motion to instruct the Mayor and the Treasurer to inspect the Collatoral assigned by the depository. INSPECTION OF COLLATERAL On resolution by Peterson seconded by Brazman, Faye Whalen was named as Treasurer of the Village of Mound, Minnesota for the year 1959. VI LLAGE CLERK On resolution by Batdorf seconded by Peterson, Kathryn Mensendike was named as Village Clerk of the Village of Mouz~d, Minnesota for the year 1959. BOND APPROVALS On resolution by Brazman, seconded by Peterson, the bonds for Justice of the Peace, Douglas Bryce and constables, Paul Farren and John Skinner be approved. On roll call the vote was as follows: Batdo rf Aye Peterson Aye Brazmm~ Aye Behmler Aye So carried and approved. FI HE HOSE BIDS Fire Hose Bids were opened. Brazman moved that the bids be considered at the adjourned meeting of January 27, 1959. Peterson seconded the motion. The vote was unanimously in favor. So ordered. Peterson moved that the Village Council of the Village of Mound instruct the Village Manager to form a committee with representatives of the Fire Department and evaluate the bids on Fire Hose for the Mound Fire Department; a written report on the two preferred bids, over the signature of the Fire Chief, to be presented to the Village Council at the adjourned meeting of January 27, 1959. Batdorf seconded the motion. So carried. The vote was unanimously in favor. VILLAGE OF MOUND 1911 The Mayor armounced that all bi~ding parties coul~ attend the evaluation committee, meeting~ January 23~ 1959 and the manager is instructed to notify all bidding parties of the time and place of the evaluation meeting o FIRE HOSE Brazman offered the following resolution and moved its adoption~ Upon unauimou~ recommendation of .the Village Health Officer, Fire Marshall and Building Inspector ~ the proper~y described as Lot 15, Koehler's Adddition to Mound, Plat 61650 Parcel 1500, owned by Lulu Rhodes, consititutes a public nuisance, and BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Mound, that said property be declared a public nuisance and that said nuisance be abated under Nuisance Ordinance No. 51 Seconded by Peterson, and on roll call the vote was as follows: Batdorf Aye Brazmau Aye Peterson Aye Behmler Aye So ordered and so carried. SEWAGE Report on 1957 Audit by the Village ManaEer Boxell. Brazman gave a report on the proposed Highway No. 12 program meeting of He~nepin County Highway representatives and represent- atives of local governmental units, held January 12, 1959. AUDIT Highway No. 12 P~0GRAM Liquor Operation was discussed. LIQUOR STORE 1559 Wages for Village Employees was discussed. 1959 WAGES VILLAGE OF MOUND Brazman moved and Peterson seconded a motion to adjourn until the adjourned meeting of January 27, 1959 at 8:00 P~M. at the Mound Fire Station. MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING of January 27, 1959 - 8:00 P~. at the Mound Fire Station. Present were: Mayor Behmler, Trustees~ Brazman, Larson, Batdorf and Peterson. FI?~ HOSE BIDS Fire Chief, Lloyd Bowers explained the different experience in the use of various types of hoses and stated preference for the hose of Minnesota Fire Equipment Company because of flexibility after use and freedom from mildew. LLOYD BOWERS C~hief Bowers testified that in his experience the wax and gum' of certain brands of hose was insufficient to exclude moisture from the weave and the wax and gum treating fails to wear well and permits moisture to enter the weave. MR~~6~//A~~ representative of Hewitt Rabber company was allowed to speak and was questioned by the Cou~il. He stated h~a~p~ared'at the special meeting and presented his samples at such me~ting. FIRE HOSE BID ACCEPTED Resolutiom offered by Brazman and seconded by Larson. BE IT RESOLVED, that the bid of Minnesota Fire Equipment Company be accepted for 800 feet more or less of. 2~ Fire Hose and 400 feet more or less of 1½" Fire Hose. 2~" at $1.62 and 1~' at 1.17 per foot. Be it further resolved that the total purchase not to exceed the sum of $2,600.00.
