Minutes of the August 9, 1960 regular meeting were read. The minutes were corrected
to read: Page 70 MOUND IT MOVED, the Mound Village Council ~f the Village of Mound
the street grades submitted by Snaby, Burnel and Jones for Harrison Shores and
approved by the Village Engineer.
Batddrf moved and Orn seconded a motion to accept the Minutes of the regular
meeting of August 9, 1960 as corrected. The vote was unanimously in favor, so
carried and accepted.
The Minutes of tD~ adjourned meeting of August 18, 1960 were read. The minutes were
corrected to read: Page 75 Minute Book The Village Manager was directed to contact,
Shorewood, Orono, Spring Park and Minnetrista advising them ef our intention tc
renegotiate our Fire Contract~ rates and asking them N~r suggesti~s.

to the construction of a platform and the landscaping of the Commons on Lot 1
Blk 23 Devon, and that he be warned that he may be held liable for any damage
to the Commons caused by work that he has undertake~. Unanimously carried.
Manager is to keep the Council informed. If he does not reply in 10 days, he
is to tell the Council.

combined property-has not less than 60 foot width.

WATER DAMAGE CLAIM
M~S'. Par~e'e' appeared with Mr. G. A. Tyler
Dr. Petersen moved that the Village Council of the Village of Mound deny
liability for the water damage as claimed by Mrs. K. Pardee for the bread(es
of January 25 and March 1, 1960, but that in view of the peculiar circum-
stances of this case and in view of the slight possibility of an adverse
verdict or judgment, that the sum of $123.00 be offered as a full, final
compromise settlement without any admission of lia~klity. It was i~cn~e~ ~y

BUILDING INSPECTOR
Batdorf offered the following resolution and moved its adoption.
WHEreAS, Harold Peterson having served faithfully for five years as Building
Inspector of the Village of Mound, Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, he faithfully executed his duties with skill and zeal, and
WHEREAS, through his efforts he promoted better building standards for the

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Village Council of the Village of Mound
commend Harold Peterson~for his years of faithful service as the Building
Inspector of the Village of Mound in behalf of the citizens of the Village
of Mound.
CASH REGISTER
Batdorf offered the following resolution and moved its adoption.

WHEREAS, the Village has a cash register which is presently of no use to the
Village and has not been used for the past 3½ years and the prospects for use
are not eminent, and
~EREAS, current market values range from $300 to $1,260 wholesale, and
~EREAS, the book value of such register is carried as $302, and
~HEREAS, Clifford Tank of St. Bonifacius, Minnesota has bid $305 for the re-
tail purchase of said cash register,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED Village Council of the Village of Mound
that said surplus cash register be sold to Clifford Tank for the sum of $305.

APPOINTMENT OF BUILDING INSPECTOR AND DEPUTY INSPECTOR
Trustee Orn offered the following resolution and moved its adoption. Trustee
Pfeifer seconded the motion:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE CO~CIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUND
Section 1. That pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 13, Code of Ordinances,
the appointment of Chellis Engstrom as building inspector of the Village of Mound,
be, and hereby is approved; and be it further resolved that the office of deputy
Building Inspector be, and hereby is created and that Harold Peterson, be and
hereby is appointed said deputy building inspector.
Section 2. BE IT Fut~rHER RESOLVED that the compensation of the Building Inspector
shall be 90% of Building Permit fees, and the compensation of the Bept~y Building
Inspector shall be $1.00 annually.

only by small diameter pipes over long distances,
NOWTHEP~FORE BE IT ~SOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL, Village of Mound that the
Village Engineer of the Village of Mound be directed to prepare a report as to
the feasibility of a water ma~ to be located on Sandy Drive between Edgewater
Drive and Northern Lane; estimates of the cost thereof, if found by him to be
feasible, preliminary plans there£or; and possible tie-ins of said water main
with existing mains; furbher
that upon the preparation thereof he be directed to report the same back to this
Council.

Peterson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption.

for depth of the gravel surface is not sufficient,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Mound,
that the Village of Mound expend up to an additional $100.00 for the purchase
of additional gravel therefor, and that the gravel depth specifications there-
of be changed from 3" by the addition of 30 yards of gravel.

tion of August 18, 1960 ordering audit of the Island Park funds for certification
of Island Park debt as of February 29, 1960, and the resolution of August 18,

debt as of February 29, 1960; each be mmmended by deleting therefrom all refer-
ence to maximum cost for such audit.

Commerce, its officers, Derby Day Chairmen and members in behalf of the citimens
of Mound for their great efforts in this successful celebration.

Village of Mound that
Section 1. The Building Inspector be advised to refrain from
issuing any complaints for the violation of Chapter 26 - Part D.
of the Village Code in connection with Robert Rudh property in
Island Park if the plumbing and sewage work as observed as under-
taken, by him consists only of installation of septic tank and
settling tank per code or better;
Section 2. The Village Manager be instructed to advise Robert
Hndh by mail of the foregoing instructions as given the Building
Inspector, and further that the use of such facilities will be
permitted only until there has been opportunity for the Planting
Commission and Village Council to act pursuant to Section 9.21
of Village Code, and that this abeyance is not to be interpreted
as a guarantee that favorable action will issue pursuant to
