VARIANCE IN LOT SIZE

Pfeifer moved to allow Mr. Betzler to split Lot 11 into two equally sized
lots provided they meet all other requirements. Heikkila seconded. Passed
unanimously.
DIVISION OF LOTS
Arnold Strom
Lots 12,13,14,20,21,22, Block 5, Shirley Hills "B"
Realter Strom was present, as was Harry Smith, spokesman for owners of
neighboring lots who objected to this division. This is in an area re-
quiring 10,0OO square feet. Dividing these six lots into four building
sites would measure out to approximately 9,300 square feet each. A
petition signed by three property owners objecting to this division was
read. Inasmuch as sewer is being made available now and in many parts
~of the village only 6,000 square feet are required, and that the Planning
Commission was unanimously in favor of making these six lots into four
building sites, Pfeifer moved, Heikkila seconded to permit the division
as requested. Unanimously carried.

any objections came in during the week.

RELOCATION OF POWER LINES ON COUNTY ROAD #125
Engineer Schoell and Lee Hurry of Northern States appeared. In order to put
sewer on County Road #125 off the blacktop as required by the County Highway
Department, it will be necessary to relocate either the Northern States over-
head lines or the underground telephone cable. It was felt that the highway
would be safer if the Northern States Power lines were moved. Mr. Schoell was
asked to report back at a later date.

ORDINANCE NO. 173
AM ORDINANCE AMENDI~ CHAPTER 7, MOUND CODE OF
ORDINANCES, ENTITLED "FIRE DEPARTMENT"
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MOUND, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS:
That Chapter 7, Mound Code of Ordinances entitled "Fire
Department", be, and hereby is, amended by amending the
provisions of Sections 7.02 and 7.03 thereof to read as
follows, to-wit:
"Section 7.02 Office of Fire Marshall~ Abolished~
~uties of Fi'[e MarShall 'Assigned. The'office of'
Fire Marshall is hereb'y abol'tsh~d. Where other
ordinances in the Mound Code of Ordinances, or
adopted by reference by the Mound Code of Ordi-
nances, refer to the Fire Marshall, or assigne~
duties to a Fire Marshall, the a~me shall be
understood to mean Fire Chief·
"Section 7.03 Office of Fire Chief. Establishment
and Duties. The office Of Fire'Chief is hereBY
~tablished. The Chief shall have control over
all of the fire fighting apparatus and shall be
solely responsible for its care and condition.
He shall make a report semi-annually to the
Village Council at its meeting in March and Sep-
tember, as to the condition of the equipment,
needs of the fire department, and results of fire
prevention inspections. He may submit additional
reports and recommendations at any meeting of the
Council and shall report suspensions by him of the
fire department at first meeting of the Council
following such suspension. He shall be respons-
ible for the proper training and discipline of
the members of the fire department, and may suspend
any member for refusal or neglect to obey orders
pending ~l~al action by the Council on his discharge
or retention. He shall enforce the Fire Prevention
Code, Chapter 25, hereof. He shall, in conjunction
with the Village Manager, have full authority to
inspect all premises to discover fire hazards and
to cause their removal, and to enforce all legal
fire prevention measures. He shall have the duty,
in conjunction with the Village Manager, to inspect
all multipleddwelling other than duplex, all commer-
cial, and all industrial property within the Village
of Mound, semi-annually, for fire hazards."
That this ordinance be effective from and after its
adoption and publication according to law.

Sewer but not to connect to the sewer, that cast iron pipe be used, snd that
he inform the Council of these instances.
