Meeting of new council called to order by Mayor Raitz.
The application accompanied by the fee of $12;00 for a Cigarette license of
Hazel T Helebrant read. Moved by Judd seconded by Korman license be iasued.carri~
Mr. Judd ~nen offered the followxng Resolution.
Whereas; the H=ral Henn. County League of Towns and Municipalities have
considered the question of establishing a separate ~ounty for that area out
side of the City of Minneapolis, and
whereas, to full acquaint the people of Henri. County wi~n the problems feint
ing to such a move, and to determine if such action is in the best interests of
the oounty, and to make a thorough study o~ ~hs problems of the Local Govern
mental Units, the Government~ and thei relation to the Ui~y of Minneapolis,
will require expenditures beyond the present means of the Rural Henn. League
of Towns and Municipalities. Now therefore,
Be it resolved that the Village of Island Fark o~ Hennepin County ao hereby
approve the action of the rural Henn. County League of Towns and Municipalities
to conduct such an investigation and study with respect to creating a separate C
County for the Rural part of Henn. County,. and to recommend it ~eek to raise the
funds necessary to defray such costs from various civic, business and co~unity
organizations of Rural Henn ~ounty.
The question was on the adoption and the roll being called, there were
FOUR NAYS and NO NAYS, and so the resolutien~';was not adopted.
Mr. Scrutton from Douglas appeared before the Board to see if ~ne Village
would help them in securing more adequate buss seevice in this area.
Motion by Judd, seconded by Korman the President appoint some one to work
in conlunction wi~.h the Douglas groop in procuring better service e Buss.
carried Mr. Judd appointed.
Resolution & Contract with Henn. Co. Heleif Board for the year lea? read.
Moved by Korman seconded by Swenson said contract be tabled for further
investigation, untried.
Moved by Swenson seconded by Ko, man the State Bank of Mound be deeignatet
as depostitory of Ihs Village funds.
Moved by Judd seconded by Swenaon that Dr. Wm. Bavis of Mound Minn. be
appointea ¥iilage health inspector for the year 1947. carried
Moved by Judd seconded by Korman C~as. Hafts be appointe~ Chief of Police
for 19~?. carried.
