N~NUTE~ 0P THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE NOUND VILLAGE COUNCIL
on March 21st, 1~8.
Meeting was called by Mayor O. A. Huff and those attending
were: Messers Yost, Tuff, Glewwe, and Alwln, the whole assembling
at the offices of the Mound Auto Company°
The object of the meeting, primal!lLy, was to consider the
recurring situa~ on which presupposes the village's obligation
in the care of the Burnette family, whose care, as a charge of the
village since last fall, was supposedly concluded and consummated
with removal and housing in Minneapolis at village expense and as
set forth in detail in the report of Mayor O. A. Huff before the
Council on February ?th, this year. Under date of this meeting
the case of this family was again reported back as destitute by
Mrs. Mabel R. Whipple, Director of the Rural Division of the
Hennepin County Child welfare Board and as presumedly a charge of
this village.
Mr. Huff set forth the situation in detail and it was decided
to act as follows:
Pending an investigation of the circumstances which should fix,
or not fix, village responsibility, the Villages Recorder was direct-
ed to sent an order against the village in the sum of twenty dollars
to the Hennepln County Child Welfare Board to cover housing for the
Burnette family for the ensuing month, such remittance to be no
acknowledgement of village responsibility.
~urther, the recorder was instructed to confer with the County
Attorney to determine, definitely, village legal responsibility in
view of all of the facts in the case.
At this meeting the road committee, also was instructed to con-
fer with O. Windberg and Jack Stein on the proposition of steady
employment on the village streets and roads on a straight salary of
$1uO.~0 a month for six months, the committe to report on the matter
at the next regular meeting·
The Recorder was also asked to co~nunicate with the ~tate High-
way ~ommlssion with respect to the legal requirements in connection
with traffic signals at :'T" Junctures and crossings of village streets.
After this the meeting was duly adjourned.
