The object of the vacation being" to make it uniform with the bal- ance of the said Avenue lying east of Lot Twenty-seven (27) in the abOve described addition." The petitioners argued that there would result no loss to the village in the proposed change,rot any expense in which the village was to share a part. Upon a motion put by Mr. Yost, ar. Tuff supporting, and the same carrying, the petition was granted.under the terms and conditions as stated by the petitioners. Mayor Huff now called for a report from the Mound Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Loyd Bowers, speaklna for the Fire stated that, in a meeting of the Fire Dep'tYs committee wlth-th~ School Board, the School Board had expressed itself as agreed to assume all expense in connection with the building of a 50,000 gal fire emergency cistern on grounds north of the High School Auditorium. Tuff moved ~that-action be withheld until the council has had more time to acquaint itself with the desires, in the matter, of the co~nity at large. This motion was seconded by Mr. Glewwe and carried. The 'Council next heard the' reading of the bids on supplying and spreading oil upon the village streets made by the ~aus- Culligan Co., of Fergus Falls, and the Motor Haulage Co. of Minneapolis at the hands of thel~ representatives. Upon listen- ing'to the bids, it was moved by Yr. Yost and seconded by Mr. Glewwe that the matter of these bids be laid aside to be taken up again at a proposed next ~pecial Meeting of the Council. This motion was carried. Next in the order of business was a report from ~r. Wesley Xoehler to the effect that, in view of the rate of progress of his work as Village Assessor, he would be unable to complete the assessment by the time the Bquilization BOard met on June ~3rd, 19~8 and prol~eed the appointment of an Assistant Assessor. Answering this suggestion, Mr. Yost moved that the matter of such an appointment be postponed until the next meeting of' the Council on June 5th when the need of assistknce could better be determined. This motion was seconded by Mr. Tuff and carried. Upon a request of Mr. Eoehler, Mr. Yost also moved, the same be- ing seconded by Mr. Alwin, that Mr. Eoehler be advanced one- hundred dollars ($100.00) as a part payment on his compensa- tion as As,see.sot...This motion was carried. Peter'Son, Attorney for the Village,' now presented the Quit-~laim Deeds covering the Westerly two feet of Lets 17, 18, ~3,15,~ and. i3,, SUb<iiVlsi'on-'o'f Lots I & 3~, ltkarp and Llndqu~st's Ravenswood Addition Of 'the VillAge 'of' Moun~',' 'the same being in connection with the construction of the proposed walk at ~eton. The Quit-~laim Deeds were received ~y the Village Recorder and ordered filed. May or Huff now called for a report from the Committee on Road Signs, Messers ~lewwe and Alwin committeemen. The Committee pr. esented an ordinance, classified as No. 19 of the Village Ordinances, and which wis worded to declar· County Roads No.7 and No. 8~, within the Village limits as Thru ~treets and call- lng for .Stop .signs again, st all traffic entering or crossing them. The context of this ordinance being read before the council, Mr. Yost moved that the ordinance be accepted as read and entered in the Village Ordinance Book as Ordinance No. 19. This motion was .seconded .by~ ~Mr.... _6Iewwe and carried. ~omplylng with the requirements of this ordinance, the Signs committee was instruct- ed to go ahead with provid_ing the necessary steel posts and signs as required by the mtate Highway Commission. The council next received the bid of Mr. G. A. Tyler on the construction of t~o blocks o~ 4' walk, curbe, and gutter at Seton. Mr. Tyler s bid was $6~5.00~ or on a ~O~ a foot basis. ~onsidering the bid somewhat high,~r. Tuff moved that action on this bid be deferred until other bids might be received and considered at the next special masting.
