It was now moved by Trustee Yost', w'ith~ the support of
Trustee Glewwe, that the Village Recorder be instPUc~ted to
purchase a new death register, if, upon proper search, the
old one cannot De found. This motion was carried.
F. ~. Groschen now advanced a petition on his own oehalf
with respect to an even chance with other business firms,
local and elsewhere, in figuring with the village on community
purchases. Mr. Groschen was assured that village bids were
open to all who found themselves in a position to figure on
them.
Trustee Yost now brought up the matter of raising the
grade of the sidewalk in front o~' the new Pardee store build-
ing. After a deal of discussion~, it was moved by Pearson and
seconded by Glewwe, that the raising of the grade and the con-
struction of the walk be allowed, subject to the discretion of
the Sidewalk Committee. This motion was carried.
It was now moved by Alwin and supported oy Glewwe that
Mayor ~rause appoint a committee of the council to examine
the demonstrator Gilbert Grader with S-ft. blade and exten-
sions to make a 2~-ft maintaining olade, complete with cab
and all attachments for use with Fordson Tractor, and priced
at $~Du.~9 f.o.b. St. Paul. This motion Oeing carried, ~ayor
Krause appointed Mr. Yost, mr. Glewwe, and Alwln as a committee
to go to the Motor Power Equipment Co., St. Paul, in whose
warehouse this equipment was on display.
Trustee Yost now urged that road work.~, as petitioned for
by messers Gotham 9arlson, H. T. 0gdahl, ~.' T. 0sborn, and
E. C. Olson and entailing the opening of Mound Avenue to
Livingston Avenue and thence to a Juncture of the latter with
Zumbra Road, be undertaken at the earliest possiOle moment.
It was rec6mmended that members of the road committee Join, ·
at once, with commissioner Stei~ in looking over the ground
in order that this work might at once proceed.
It was now moved Dy Yost and seconded by Glewwe t~at
the Village ~ec0rder be instructed to order three carloads
of Pea Rock and three carloads of wasaed sand from Landers-
Morrison-~nrlstlanson Co., St. Louis Par~, and according to
terms lald down in this firm s letter of .April ~Sth, i. e.,
Washed Screened Sand - ~.aD Der ton and Washed Surface Gravel ~-
$~.~ per ton, freight allowed to Mound. Following this
motion, it was suggested that the committee investigating the
Gilbert Grader at the same time examine and order this sand
and gravel.
It was now moved by Alwin and seconded by Yost that the
new Zoning Law passed Dy the last l~islature and optionally
applying to cities, towns, and villages of the state, De submitted
tO a vote at the next general election. This motion was carried.
