The various factors to the meeting g~thered sharply at
3 o~clock, P. M. and Mayor Krause opened the discussion by call-
ing the attention of the officials of the Power ~ompany to the
fact. that, according to established custom and the wording of~
the company's franchise with. the village, this community was
entitled to-a downward reduction of rates on light and power at
least every five years and to a degree commensu~rate with general
downward reduction over the entire Minnetonka district. In other
words, reduction and resulting rates for Mound were to be such
as to leave no wide margin of difference between the rates for
Mound~and. those, of other lake points.
This obligation with respect to rate adjustments being admitted,
Mr. Taylor, representing final authority for the Power Company
in these matters, at once proposed a new rate out recently worked
out and which experience had taught to be equitable and fair to
all concerned. ~This raze, ~r. Taylor stated, was now being applied
to all of the five-hundred-odd cities and towns served by the
Interstate Power ~o. as fast as man-power, time, and equipment
enabled the company to do so.
The present rate for Mound being 1~ 1/2 ~ for the first 20 KWH,
11 7/1~ for the next ~O, and 9~ for the excess, the new rate to be
in force immediately was as follows:
The first ZO KWH are to be delivered at 1~, the next 30 K~N
at 1~, and the excess at 6~, this adjustment to hold good for
private dwellings only. No reduction in commercial rates was offer-
ed at ~his time, for no feasible reduction had as yet been worked
out. -s soon as this was done, it was to be offered.
For heavy consumers of electricity, or those having electrical-
ly d~iven pumps, refrigerators, or were using oil-burners for heat-
ing, Mr. Taylor recommended the following optional rate:
The first 5~ EWH were to be delivered for 1~ per KWH, the
next )u KWH at 4~ and the excess at 3~, t~is rate to carry'a
minimum of ~4,~5.
9pon coming to an agreement with respect to the new rates,
Mr. Taylor stated that the village would receive a restatement
of the new rate in writing and that other instruments enacted with
the Village Recorder would put the matter on record.
ma~ter of business, the meeting was adjourned.
