Minutes of Nesting of Village Council,
Village of Mound, Minnesota, Held
November 6, 1954.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of
the Village Council of the Village of MOund, Minnesota, was duly
held in the Oouncil Room in said Village on the 5th day of November,
1954, at Eight O'clock P. M.

The f~lOwing members were present: .J.O. Erause, President,
F. Yost, G. F. Broeckeet, C. L. Tuff and H. I. Horton, Trustees.
The minutes of last regular meeting were read ~and on motion
by Broeckert and seconded by Tuff, wer. e approved as read.
A motion by Yost and seconded by Broeckert that Geo. R. Oole
be appointed as Superintendent of construction for the Watermain
Improvement $2. Motion carried.
Petition for the extension of Watermain in the Highlands
received and will be considered at a Regular or Special Meeting
to be called later.
The President of the Village Oounoil announced that the
meetingwas opened for the consideration of bids for the construct-
ion of Watermain Improvement ~Z of said Village.
The Olerk produced affidavits showing publication of Notice
for Bi~s in the official newspaper, which affidavits were ordered
placed on file.
~he bids which had been received were thereupon opened and
found to be as follows:

After due consideration of all bids, Trustee Yost introduced
the following resolution and moved its adoption:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village ~ouncil of the Village of Mound
27-$Minnesota, that the bid of Walter Magee Company, of St. Paul
--~to construct Watermain Improvement No. 2 of said Village,
according to plans and soecifications for the same which are now on
file, is deemed to be the lowest and best bid submitted by a
responsible bidder and is hereby accepted.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was
duly seconded by Trustee Broeckert, and upon vote being taken
thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Yost, Broeckert
Tuff and Horton, whereupon said resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted.
Trustee Tuff introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of
Mound, Ninnesota, as follows:
1. The Clerk, with the assistance of the Engineer or Suoerintend-
ent of the work, shall forthwith calculate the amount preoer and
necessary to be especially assessed for Watermain Improvement No. 2
against every assessable lot, piece or parcel of land, without
regard to cash value, but according to the provisions of Chapter
42~ laws of l~E1.
2. The proposed assessment shall be filed with the Clerk for
public inspection, and the Clerk shall cause to be ~ublished a
notice of the time and place of meeting of the Geuncil to pass
upon such proposed assessment, which publication shall be made at
least one week prior to the date of said meeting.
3. The Council shall meet on Friday, November 18, at eight
o'clock P. N. for the purpose of hearing and considering and
passing upon all objections to the said assessment, amending the
sa~e if the Council deems advisable, and adopting the same.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution
was duly seconded by Trustee Broeckert, and upon vote being taken
thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Yost, Broeckert,
Tuff and Horton, whereupon the said resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted.
Trustee Yost introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of
Eound, Ninnesota, as follows:
1. The Village of Eound shall issue certificates of~indebted-
ness on account of Watermain Imorovement No. 2 in the total
principal amount of $2~0.00, w~ich certificates shall be in the
denomination of $22~.00, and shall mature serially, $~.00 in
1935, and $225.00 in each of the years 1936 to 1944, both inclus-
ive. Said certificates shall bear such date and such interest
as may be fixed by the successful bidder therefore.
2. The Village Council shall meet on November 26, 1934, for the
purpose of considering bids for the purchase of said certificates,
and the Clerk t.s authorized and directed to publish notice of such
sale for two weeks in the official Village newspaper.

The following Resolution was read and endorsed at the'
regular mee~ting of the Village council of Mound, Minnesota,
held on November 5, 1954:
WHEREAS, Lake Minnetonka is situated approximately
twelve miles from the City of Minneapolis and has a shore line
of approximately one hundred twenty-five miles with beautiful
residential commu$ities all around the Lake, and
WHEREAS, the Lake has now fallen some six feet and is
continuously falling with considerable danger that is ~ome
immediate action is not taken to restore~the waters to the
Lake before next Spring the Lake will be dried up to such an
extent that it will be almost impossible to restore it to its
former beauty, and
WHEREAS, field surveys are now being made to determine
the most feasible method of restoring the Lake to normalcy, and
WHEREAS, such restoration will give employment to a great
number of people now unemployed,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, That we do hereby urge upon the
Federal Government the necessity and importance of including
the restoration of the water level in said Lake Minnetonka to
normalcy in its conservation plans or Federal Emergency plans,
and we respectfully ask that funds be set aside immediately for
such purpose and that the project be begun as soon as feasible
after the field surveys have been completed in order to give
employment as soon as possible.
The above Resolution is hereby endorsed by the Village
Council of Mound, Minnesota. On Roll Call: Yeas - Broeckert,
Horton, Tuff and Yost.
