The meeting was opened by M~ayor Hues%is and those responding to
roll-call were Yost, Tuff, Wlnkel, ~.nd Alwln.
The purpose of this meeting was the provision of village owned
housing vacilities for the Nound Fire Department preparatory to
the departments necessary removal from the High School garage.
Also, by later arrangement, the meeting was to give a hearing
to reports on a Federally financed labor supply for certain village
improvements.
Appearing first before the council was Er R. A. Turnham, repre-
senting the Works Progress Administration, who comprehensively
presented what the Federal Government had to offer in the way
of labor cost-free to the village for any pro~ec% it would blue-
print and present for Federal inspection. All the village would be
asked to contribute would be all of the material and most of the
operating equipment. ~onsideration of this matter was pos%ported
until a special meeting to convene at.?:30 P. M. Mar. 22nd.
Following discussion with a uniformed and more than represemta-
tire delegation from the Mound Fire Department it was agreed between
council and department that the removal of the department to quarters
to be prepared in the Village Storage garage was to se~e only as a
temporary expedient pending the construction of a municipal building
in which thed~epartment was to have its future and permanent home.
Thereupon it was moved by Trustee Tuff that the Village Recorder
confer with G. A. Tyler to establish the same arrangement as to labor
that prevailed during the construction of village curbs and walks of
the past year, i. e., Tyler to be employed by the village to supe~ise
favored local labor ur~der village ~mployee'~s Compensation Insurance
coverage; and, further, that G. A. Tyler make an estimate of materials
needed for the construe%ion of a fire-truck storage~room and a furnace
room, according to specifications andplans, including one standard
10'x 10' uush-up door, 3-2½'x 6' ordinary doors, and,l-3' door of
standard height. Also necessary and adequate insulating materials
against fire and cold, the whole of wbieh estimate to ser~e as
basis for an advertisement for bids on materials only. This motion
was seconded by Winkel a.nd carried by the eouncit.
~A motion was m~de by Trustee Tuff 'that, pursuant to complaint,
Mac's Tavern be required to provide running wate~ and sanitary
sewage disposal as is required by law. This was seconded By' Atwin,
the council concurring.

on motion.
