1941-02-04VILLAGE OF MOUND 557 },~NUTE~ OF THE REGULAR ~ETING OF THE ~.{OUND VILL~GE COUNCIL HEID ~ebruar y 4th , 19~1. Responding to roll-call were ~ayor J. C. Krause, Trustees ~.. F. Win~el c. M..Ferrall, end Evan Jones, with ^lwin as Clerk-Recorder. The minutes of the previous meetings hsving been read and aporoved with ~ change recommended by Truslee Jones with reference to the report- ing of a change in the Village Treasurer's salary, the counc~.l ~on- sidered the renewal policy of $800.00 'on the Village Club House presented by the Reed Agency. In view of the final completion of the building, it wa~, moved by Trustee Ferrall that the principal amount of the contract be raised to $4,000.00; that the J. P. Reed policy be Increased to $2,000.00, snd that the re~t of the $~,0OO.00 coverage be given to the tV. H. A. Koehler Agency. This was seconded by Trustee Winkel, ihs rest of the council agreeing. Reporting on his contacts and interviews with private and ~tate 8~uditing firms and the cost minimums of such expert fin~nci~l examina- tlons, Trustee Ferrall moved that the financial records of the village for the year 1940 be audited by the State Public Examiner a~ad that the village co,~ncil execute by the members signing such a request of the State examining office. This motion w~s supported by Trustee Jones, the whole of the council aoproving. A hearing was given to Fire Chief Loyd ~owers and other members of the ~.~ound Volunteer Fire Dept. on the Fire Dept's proposition to 5uy, on its own account, a new Fire Truck for $3,500.00, to be operated in conjunction with the old truck ~nd ecuipment, provid- ing the village would invest $1,OOO.O0 in new fire hose. The matier for the moment became deadlocked on the issue as %o how fsr the village and council would be liable in c~se the 5~'tre Dept. defaulted in the terms of its fire-truck purch~..se contract. An abridged form of a Fire OrdiOance reco~.mended by the Wire Under- writers Inspection Rureau being resd before the council, it wss moved by Trustee Jones that action on the ordinance be held over until the next regular meeting of the council on 5'arch ~th when another reading was to be given it.
