The puroose of this meeting was to reln,~tate George ~, Cole as
Police Officer for the Villege of ~ound and to lay down his line
of' duty. ~
Responding to roll-call were Mayor J. C. Krause, Trustee B. F.
Winkel, with Alwin as Recorder. Present also was Officer Ceo
R. Cole. ·
After a brief review of the reasons for his dismissal by ,~ayor
J. C. Krause, Officer Cole was presented with the following schedule
as a resumption of his duties in policing lhe village:
Hours 8 to 6 in winter, 7 to 5 in sumSer; Octo0er l, to May l,
shall be considered the winter months. He shall be allowed one free
night a week; that night shall not be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, but
any one of the other nights of his own choosing. The COuncil shall be
furnished with a schedule of the night for each week. These nights
shall be irregular, that is, not the same night for two consecutive
weeks, or the same schedule for any two consecutive nights.
H'e shall be suoJeot to call for emergency at the discretion of
the Council or any member at any time. He shall do such Janitorial
duties as are necessary to keep the ~ouncil Chambers in oroper condition.
He shall be responsiol~ for the operation of the Heating-l~lants, in
the Fire House, .~.nd in the Pump House. -~
He shall test all doors on all business places; front and rear
every two hours durl ng his time on duty. Once every two hours he
shsll walk through every beer parlor, cafe, or public, amusement es-
tablishment, or any other place that keeps open after regular hours;
for the purpose of checking on conduct and Juvenile delineuency.
He shall check the closing time of all beer parlors and be in
one beer parlor at ,
closing time. He shall not be in the ss. me one on
consecutive nights, or in the same one the .~.ame night ~f each week.
He shall call the telephone operator regularly at 11:00 for in-
formation, and leave reasonable information as to. where he may be
located between calls. Arrange with telephone operator to csll the
Pump House hourly, 15 minutesafter the hour, if an emergency exists.
He is responsible to be at the pump House at the specified time.
He sh~ll not leave the village limits at any time while he is
on duty. He shall wear a uniform furnished by himself. He shall
not use intoxicsting lieuor in any form during his time on duty, or
while in uniform, He shall conduct himself as a gentleman at all
time~, 9nd refrain from the use of profane language in the course
of his dutie s.
He shall be re~onsible for the &nforcement of laws of th~ State,
and the Village ordinances and resolutions.
He shall check the water guage when he goes on duty, and be
responsible that a safe level has been maintined, and that the tank
shall be full when he goes off duty. He shall go to the Pump~ House
immediately, if a fire exists, and prepare to keep a supply of water

H He shall discharge any Village service at the request of
the Council or any member. He shall appear before the Council,
and make his presence known at every regular meeting, but he .is
not expected to stay unless requested to do so.
The tour of the residential district shall be at his own
discretion but shottld be done~when time permits. His duties
may be ~earranged from month to month at the rec~t~st of the Counc~.
Further, he shall once each week make a thorough canvas
of village allies and back-lots snd determine the sanits.ry
nature of ~arbage and refuse ~iles and report any untoward
findings to the Mayor and the Village Health Officer.
