MINUTE~ OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE MOUND VII,LAGE COUNCIL HELD
June 16th, 1941.
The primary purpose of the meeting? was to give a hearing to the
Fernslde and Hawlins Ave. water main extension. Hespondln~ to roll
call were Mayor J. C. Erause, Trustees B. F. Wink'el, Eam~ OSmen, with
Alwin as Recorder.
Hep~rting on the choice of a cash register by the Liouor Committee,
Trustee Olson moved that the council purchase a new mechanically
operated National Cash Register at the price submitted by bid at the
meeting of June 3, 1941. The motion was supported by Trustee winkel,
the council agreeing.
Py general agreement without motion, the council authorized the
Clerk to write to the Division Office of the Great Northern R. R. Co.
reeuesting that the weeds be cut in the village railroad yard.
In line with the purpose of the meeting and no one appearing in
oopositlo-n to the proposed main extension, Alwin presented the
following resolution:
Whereas, at a Special ~eetlng of the council of the Village of
~ound, held in the council Chamber of said Village on the 26th day
of Na~9 1941, a resolution was duly passed by the council to consider
the matter of extending water mains on certain streets in said village,
to wit: On Fernside Avenue between County Highway No. 7 and the
Seton Short Cut Road, and on Rawlins Avenue from Dell Street to t.he
intersecting alley, and
Whereas it was resolve~ to consider said matter at a Special
meeting of said council to be held in said council room on ~onday,
the 16th day of June, 1941, at 8 o'clock P. M. and to give notice of
said hearing tocall persons interested, and to all property owners
whose property may be assessed therefor by publication of said notice
once each week for two successive weeks in the Minnetonka PilOt, the
official newspaper of said village, the last publication to be at least
seven days prior to said time of hearing, and
Whereas said notice has been duly given accordingly and the matter
having been considered by the council and due opportunity having
been given for all persons to be heard, and no one having appeared
to oppose said improvement,
Now, therefore, it is Hereby Resolved, and the council hereby
determines', that it is de~irable and necessary that said improvement
be made and that the water mains of the village water system be extended
in and constructed on Fernside Avenue between County Highway No. 7
and the .~eton Short Cut Road and on Rawlins Avenue f~om Dell ~treet
to the .intersecting alley in Blk 9, Abraham Lincoln Addition to Lakeside
Park, and be it further resolved that Walter Madsen, a civil engineer,
be employed to prepare plans and specifications of said improvement
and that such pIans and specifications be filed with the Clerk, sub-

Trustee Wlnkel seconding th~ motion for adoption oftthe above
resolStion, the vote of the council stood unanimous. And so the
Resolution stood adopted.

of the above resolution, Trustee Winkel presented the followln~' resolution:
Plans and specifications for Water Main Improvement No. 6 extending
the water mains of the municipal water system of the Village of ~ound
on Fernside Avenue between County Highway No. ? and the ~eton ~hort
Cut Road and on Rawlins Avenue from Dell G%reet to the intersecting
alley in Block 9, Abraham Lincoln ~dditlon, all in the Village of
~ound, having been prepared by the civil engineer and filed in the
office of the Clerk of said village, ~nd said plans and Specifications
h~ving been duly examined by the Village Council,
It is hereby resolved, that said pIans and specifications De,
and they hereby are, approved and that the Village Clerk be author-
izod and directed to advertise for bids for the c~onstruction oI~
such improvement by one week's publication of notice-~in the Minnetonka
Pilot, and that said notice shall specify the work to be done and
shall call for bids on the bs~sis of ca. sh payment for such work, and
shall specify that no bids will be considered unlesz sesled ~nd
filed with the clerk and accompanied by c~h or certified checks
payable to the Clerk for ten per cent of the amoun~ of each bid, s~nd
that bids will be opened and considered ~ the next regular meeting
of the council to be held on Tuesday, the 1st d~y oi' July, 1941,
at 8 o'clock P. ~J~. at the village oouncil room.
Trustee Olson seconding the motion for adoptIom, the vote oi' the

P,~ general agreement, the clerk was authorized to write a letter
to the Pos,rd of County Commissioners, givln~~ them permission to
dump floating bogs onto an area known as ~ound Commons, this in
connection with s~ program of cle~n Lake ~innetonka.
On a motion by Trustee 01so. n, the Council acted fsvorabl~ on
a oetition presented by ?cst 398 Of the ?,ericsn I,egton ~sklng
oermlssion to sell ?ire crackers on village leased Great Northern
Railroad property across the street from the Legion Hall.
