Hoke and Mr. Frank H~ Livings%on~ q~e~tkoned the council with. reference to the abrupt rise in village, property taxes, representing a millrate iincrease from 47.1~ to. 53.70.. ~ ~he questioners were assured that..the, tax increase for village opera,ions, had. gone up only 1.9 mill A co~mun'i~ation by Mrs. Eva Palml with r~f~re~0~i ~o. past action by the .village council affecting her home and. property was laid before the .village board. On a motion by Newcomb,. Rond~rf. seconding, the matter, was. referred back to the Fillage clerk for. a proper answer. Financial. reports of the Mound Village Y~_re. The village water dept. report for the month of Feb. was read, approved, and ordered filed. Acting on a communication from Commissioner R. A. Trovatten of the State Department of Dairy and Foods, the council authorized the appoint- ment of James S. Adams as Village Weed Inspector for the year 1946. The following applications for building permits were approved and permits ordered issued: Richard Gibson, ........................ Ross ~B.~ Hall, Herman L. Tuff. The financial report of Village Treasurer M. N. Johnson, and for the month of Feb., being read and approved, it was ordered filed. On a motion by Rondord, Broeckert supporting, the council disapproved a petition asking for the closing of the alley back of Lots 6, 7, & 8, McNaughts Addition, Village of Mound. VILLAGE OF MOUND 799 The council decided without motion on the 4'x6t a8 the uniform size for village celebration flags, most of which were to be purchased by individual business firms. A communication addressed to Mayor Huestis, and written by Attorney Arthur LeSueur on behalf of 0~Loberg and others and ~ WITH ~J~F~B~N6~ TS the abnoxious nat~re'of'the village park toilet, was read before the council. On a motion by Newcomb, the clerk was authorized to request an investigation by the State Health Department, such investigation to proceed in the presence of members of the council. The clerk was further instructed to notify Attorney LeSueur of this action of the council. This motion was seconded by Rondorf, the council agreeing.
