1946-06-04808 VILLAGE OF MOUND MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETIN~ OF THE MOUND VILLAGE COUNCIL HELD June 4th, 1946 Responding to roll-call at this meeting were Mayor Louise Huestis, Trustees Newconh and Broeckert, with Atwin recording. Trustee R. J. Rondorf was absent. T he minute~ of' the previous meetings having been read and approved, audiance was given-to lrick Smith with reference to arrangements for garbagel disposal in the Village Park. Niscussion centered around conditions of the. service and the cost. HouEhton Smith' was- heard' in' hi's' complaint, with reference to the loudness and monotony of the roller skating rink music at Chapman's Pavilion. It was suggested by members of the council that he appeal to the good sense Of the operator directly by means of a personal letter. Mrs. Roy Johnson, representing the Cosmos Garden Club, addressed the council on the need of water for the flower bed across the street from Yost's Drug Store, i and which had been planted by her club as a courtesy and service to the village. Mayor Hue~t.i~. ,as.s.ured Mrs... Joh-nson. an ad~acentl water supply would be made available and that the neglect of the bed Would not be repeated. Mrs. Johnson also received the thanks of the council for her suggestions in connection with beautifying tSe depot grounds. W. E. Carlson appealed to the council for a loop at the dead end of Highland BoUlevard to enable traffic to reverse its direction without using private driveways for that purpose. Mr. Carlson was assurre~ that members of the council would investigate the possibilities and make recor~mendations to the council for later action. W. P. Bradliey was heard on his petition for a water main spur to deadend on Village limits on Beverley Ave., East of Broderick and fronting along Lots 24, 25,~ & 26, Subdiv of Lots 1&32, and along Greatl Northern R. R. trackage. Mr. Bradley was assurred that, under the Iaw, the railroad company could be assessed for half the cost. The councili considered the proposition of G. W. Be~z~mto use his private garage on Lots 5&6, blk 8, A. L. Add..to Lakeside Park as a repair shop. The matter was tabled for later consideration. A. C. Greenfield offering to purchase from the village the Alonzo Boynton property, namely. Lot 13, Blk. 4, Subdiv. of Part of Lot 36, Crevier's Sabdiv. of La~fayette Park, and for which he offered $500,O0, Trastee Newcomb presented the following motion, to wit: Moved that the Village of Mound sell to A- C. Greenfild and wife by quit-claim deed, and for the sum of $500.00, hot 13, blk. 4, Subdiv. of Part of Lot 36, Crevier~s Subdiv. of Lafayette Park. Further, that such quit-claim deed be made out to A. C. Greenfield and wife as Joint tens_uts, and not as tenants in common.. G.F. Broeckert Seconding this motion, the affirmative vote of the council stood unanimous. Newcomb moMed that the clerk be authorized to pay, ~r issue check in the sum iof $151.20 to Fillmore and Bradbury for flags. Broeckert seconded this motion, the council agreeing. VILLAGE OF MOUND 809 Broecker$ moved ,that the council accept and approve the financial reports qovering the Water dept. for the month of Nay~ also the report on r&ceipts for the came month. Newcomb supported this motion, the council carrying. On a motion by New¢omb, the council agreeing, the monthly salary of J. C. Stein was r~ised from ~1,5, O.OO to $160.O0, and the salary of W. B. BoWersffrom,~.~ $140.00 to $150.00, s'uch raises being good for the months of June, July, and August only. This agreement was put to motion by G. F. Broeckert, Alwin seconding. Broeckert further moved that the Regular D!eeting of July 2nd, 1946, be set as the ds. te for a hearing covering the laying of water mains in Go~ermment Lot 6 and in Mound Terrace.
