MINUi~ES OF THE MEETING OF THE MOUND VILLAGE COUNCIL ADJOUP~ED FROM
Saturday, May 18th, 1948 to Tuesday, ~ay 18th
Present at this meeting wSre Mayor W. I. Davis, Councilmen A. S. Newcomb,
R. L. Pierce, and B. F. W inkel, with Alwin as recorder.
The purpose of the meeting was to review and decide on the facts
brought out at the ~a~$rcMain Project No. 8 Tax Hearing held at
the meeting of May 15th, 1~48; this in the light of legal requirements
presented by Village Attorney Herbert E. Wolner.
In the light of all of the facts, especially with reference to corner
1.ots with all of their varying contors and dimensions, the council
was unanimously agreed to a re-assessment of all of project No. 8
and a respreading of the cost based on the corner lot adjustments.
With this in mind, Engineer Arleigh Smith was authorized by general
assent to proceed'with this work and to have it ready for the regular
meeting of the council on June 8th, 1948.
After discussion Newcomb presented the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLVED That, because of circumstances attending the failing
health of the present duly elected Treasurer of the Village of Mound,
EDNA J. GOODER be appointed to serve as Assistant Treasurer with full power
to perform all of the functions and duties and to assume all of the
respon~ibilities'that'regularly'fall~to'the'office of Village Treasurer,
andmto do this during the absence or sickness of the Village Treasurer,
and.that she be asked to meet a~l legal requirememts lntthe assump-
tion of this office. ~
Winkel seconding this motion, and the question being for
th~ ad&ption of the above resolution, the vo~e~ stood as follows:
Yeas: Newcomb, Winkel, Pierce, and Alwin. NayE, none. And so the
resolution stood unanimously'ad~pt~d~
On a motion by Pierce, Winkel supporting , the council unanimously
approved the Bid of Fred Thomas on Five-Hundred (500) Yards, more or
less, of screened gravel to be delivered at $1.28 a cubic yard.
This business done, the meeting adJurned.
