1948-08-03V~LLAGE OF MOUND U~INUTES OF THE REGULAR ~EETING ~F THE MOU~ VILLAGE COUNCIL HELD August Std., 1948. Present were 'Davis, Alwin, and Winke,1. Also in attendence were Attorney Wolner, an~ Engineer Smith.' The minutes of July 6thaand gOth having be6n read and approve~, Winkel presented the following resolution and moved its adoption in an ammendment oftthe resolution of July gOth: WHEREAS, the Village of Mound is a duly organized and existing municipal oe~n~a~l~nnin the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota and V,~EREAS, the Village of Mound is the owner and holder of the follow- ing United States Securities, namely: U. B. Treasury Bond 3167 H, 1956-59, $500.00; U. S. Treasury Bond 3168 J 2~ % - 1956-59, $500.00; and U. S. Treasury Bond Defense F, M6398F ~% 1956-59, $1,C~)O;O0; and WHEREAS, the council of the Village of Mound, being the Governing body of said municipality, deems it to the best interest of the community to sell said securities and employ the proceeds in the conduct of mu~icipal affairs; Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that Edna Gooder, Deputy Treasurer of the Village of Mound in the ~ounty of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, be and she is hereby authorized and empowered to sell and assign or to request payment of reissue of the following ~escribed United States securities registered on the books of the Treasury Department, and registered securities with respect to which the Treasury Bepartment acts as the transfer agency, in the name of, or assigned to the Village of ~:~ound, Minnesota, to wit: U. The council reviewed the personal petitions of Mrs. L~Oyd Bohde~ for a street light at the intersection of Carman Blvd. and Nighland Ave.; of W. ~. Carlson for the use of the village park for a Park Construction Co. picnic on Aug. 14, gl, & 28, including rise of the pavilion; of Fire Chief Lloyd Bowers fo.r another door for the fire barn; of Verne VonEschen with reference to an abatement of the smoke nuisance f'rom fi'r'es at the village dump;' of Mr'.' 'ta~led the 'matter 'pending neighborly ~.greeme~ts among owners of ~ff;oted [~0n~b. age. 944 VILLAGE OF MOUND The village le~£al dept. was authorized to advertise for a hearing set for Tuesday, Sept. ?th, 1948, with reference to Water ~.~ain Project No. !0, i. e., mains on D~ound Ave., the Hig~hlands; Park Ave. from Yale to Fernslde, and alon~ the streets of Unit"F" Shirley Hills A petition for black-top on Highlan~d A~e., The Hi~hlands, was deferred to August 10, 19~8. The council agreed to a petition from the business men to is~ue warning tickets to first offenders in all cases of double parking. On a motion by ~lnkel, seconded by Alwin~ the council accepted the bid of the Alexander Construction Co. to connect Pump No. ~ with the ~illage water system at a cost of ~800.00~ the ~illage to supply all materials and the Alexander Construction Co. to supply the labor. Bids on the purchase by the'viIlage of a cash register for the liquor store were deferred until the adjourned ~eeting~of'August !0th~ the c!erk~ in the m~antime~ to transmit all bids snd information to the I~iquor Committee for their consideration and decision; this on a motion by Winkel, and a second by Davis. · The council reviewed the first estimate of the Alexander Construction Co. in connection with the cost of ~ater ~.~aln Project No. ~ which was given as ~17,4!~.80. The estimate was countersi~Ened by Engineer Arlel~ Smith an~ recommended for payment. A pet~n requesting annexation by the ~illage of territory lying between the Subdivision of Lots 1 to ~, Ra~enswood, and the Cook~s and Harrison Bay channel was ref~rre~_;~'o: th~:.,cl~rk and the ~illage attor~ey for their attention. On a motion by Winkel, seconded by Alwin, Robert H. Neises was ~ranted an "On Sale" license to operate a Z.~% beer' tavern on Lot 22, Ravensw~od, . Seton. It was moved by. Winkel, with the support of Alwin, that the vill&ge continue its membership with The League of Minnesota Municipalities by remitting the annual membership fee of $40.00. Carried. On a motion by Winkel, Alwin seconding, the council awarded rebates of $1~.00 to Don Carlson and 1~. 1~. Pete~son ~ doing their own tap ditching on County Highway No. 4~.
