Dsvis, Councilmen B. F. Winkel, and Gene White, and LeRoy V. Alwin, Recorder. The purpose of the meeting was to co~sider the unfinished business of the Regular If. eeting of March 8th, i. e., the appointment of ammo- one to the office of Assessor for the Village to succeed Herbert A. B!y, elected but resigning foD business reasons, the widening of Central Ave., (State Hig~hway No. 110) from the intersection of Lynwold Ave., North to the Village Limits, the improvement of the bed of Dell Street, the parking problem presented by the Greyhound Buses in front of the Bus Depot, snd the appointment of so~,'~.eone to fill the Justice-of-the-~eace post vacated by Arthur Holmquist. The meeting opened with the interduction of ~[r. Harry Martin in person am the proposed appointee to succeed ~.,Ir. Bly. After dis- cussion and the answering of many questions which brought re- assurance as between candidate and council, it was moved by Winkel to accept the resignation of Herbert A. Bly as Village Assessor and Building Inspector. White suoported this motion, the council unanimously carr~ying. It was now moved by Winke! to appoint Harry ~,~artin to the post of Village Assessor and Building Inspector. This was supported by th. o. .......... With reference to the widening of Central Ave. from its intersection with Lynwold Ave. North to the Village limits, it having been dim- covered that the signatures on the petition for the improvement were short in representing the fift~0fle'6rmore~psrgent necessary for authorizing the improvement, it was generally agreed to postpone action until this condition had been fulfilled, and that the work of surveying was to proceed immediately thereafter. In this connection, it was moved by White and. seconded by Winkel that the Village Engineer be instructed to make a preliminary survey on Central Ave. from G. N. tracks to Village limits, giving estimate of cost of widening, curb and gutter, and to make a preliminary survey of Dell, Bryant, and the connecting part of Harrison Ave. to Wakfield Ave. This was carried by the council. In connection with a resolution presented by the Land Commissioner of Hennepin in connection with tax delincuent lands within the limits df the Village of D1ound, which the State was planning for sale, and two lots of which had frontage on village water main improvement, it was moved by Alwin to acgept and pass the resolution with the understanding thst the cost of the water main improvement was to be included in the price of the lots and that the same, on sale, was to be refunded to the village.
