Business before the meeting was to establish controls governing the parking situation.around.~the~G,.N, D~pot; to come to definite un~erstanding~ with reference to bus parking in front of the Greyhoun~ Bus Depot; to exten~ and to elaborate parking facilities for commuters on G. N. Railroad property; to further consider the wi~en- ing of Central Ave., and to pave it, from the School North to the village limits; to appoint a Justice of ~the Peace to ~succee~ Arthur Ho!mquist, resigned; and to do such.other business ~as ,mlg~ht regularly come before it. After ~iscuss~on of the depot matter, it was agree~ by Hauser to get the approval of the Great Northern to paint the base of the depot against parking and to post a limit as between 8 A. M. and 8 P. N. He was to report to the village as soon as approval reached him. With reference to commuter parking near the bus depot, this on Great Northern property, as a possibility, it was generally agreea, and without motion, that ~ouncilman White Join June and Dorenkemper of the Business Men~s Assn. as a delegation to~interview~Krueger of the Greyhound Co. to join in a general aopeai to the Great Northern for parking rights. After a general ~iscussion of the bus parking problem, the consensus of agreement was that depot-front parking was to be limited to two buses parking parallel and end on. That surplus buses were to park in the alley, and that the alley, widened to 80 ft, was to serve as a turn-around to orientate bus traffic. This to proceed as soon as post-winter street conditions permitted, and that all necessary steps be taken to bring this about, including legal checks. It was moved b~ ~,Vhite that the villai.~e clerk be authorized "to direct a letter to the Mound Business ~en's Association a~suring this organization that the Mound Villa'ge Council was in f~ll accord with their ~uto-park program and would participate in any ai~s. This was seconded by Winkel, the council carr~ving. In harmony with cohclusions expressed by ~iayor Davis, the council stood agreed that the general widening and improvement of Oentr&[1 Ave. should all include the improvement of the roadbed and the widening of Dell Str., at least to its Junture with Bryant Ave. On the repo. rt by 9.1win with reference to an Air Map of the Village, and as recommended by Toltz, King, & Day, the council was agreed that ~he matter be further investigated with the ultimate result that the map be made. Action with reference to the appointment of a Justice of ihs Pease was withheld pending further assurances that N. A. Cobb would accept ~e ~o~. The clerk, by general agreement and without motion, wss authorized to issue further notice, through the local press, with reference to t, he nee~ of licensin~ dogs and the availability of the necessary ~sgs.
