HEARING ON PROPOSED ~i'[?[ENATION

Present were ~essrs. Davis, Bly, Pierce, ~hite; Absent- Winkel.
Dr. Davis read the minutes and outlined the ~ction taken at the pre-
vious hearing, which was postponed to the present date.
Dr. Davis was called away, and ~r. Pierce took the chair.
l~.~r. Whalen reported ~hat it ha<l been impossible to get a mass meeting
together for purpose of finding what the Spring Park residents really
wanted, as had been suggested at the Deaember hearing.
The sugi~etion was made that the 70 or so property owners in the area
in question, be contacted by card or letter and asked for their vote
on the proposal, to settle the question finally. This was received
favorably by the residents of the area who were present - eight or.
nine from the area,~ six of whom had si~..~aed the original petition but
now oppose the annexation.

ters ~ sent %o property owners in the area in question, except tho~e
listed above, asking them to vote; cards to be returned by early
February, ~.~. Volner to take care of the matter through his office.

There was general discussion regarding village reg~lations covering
animals within village limits, garbage disposal and possible control,
enforcement of existing ordinances, a planned program for training
police officers, a new schedule of hours for the police to give better
protection.
It was s~g;jested that an arrangement be worked out whereby business men
would pay a fee foe cSntinuous police protection and closer ~upervis~^
Hr. Pierce sug~ested that if th~ Vilia~e Treasurer would check gasoline.
purohase~ for the past several year~ and ascertain the a~,~ount of Fed-
eral Tax paid on it, this amount could be recovered~ same appli~.s to
Fedora. 1 Tax cn toll telephone calls.
Finances were discussed, ~nd it was agreed 'that the council would go
oyez' and analyze the annual financial z. eport a.~ soon as received,
making an at':;empt to cut expenses, possibly by pay-roll curtailment.
Liquor.store ps.y-roi. 1 was discussed as to possibility of dispensing
with one man for a time or cutting hours the store is open.
.Yr. Pierce reported that he had ordered ta~s for keeping a permanent
stock record in the store; and it was agreed that he and'}[r. White
would set up the sya'tem, making a check on the inventory ~t the same
time.
i~[r. Pierce reported the_t he wa~ quoted s. price of ~5.~i~ O0 for the
wir~TM in the m'--~tter of moving the. liquor store sign, with the villa;e
to dig the holes and furnish the pipe for the installation.
