FIi~TM~CIAL ST~F EMENT having been received, it was discussed in detail as regards publication~in the ~'¢innetonka Pilot being accompanied by explanatory note, letter or article, to provide the public with the necessary information regarding capital outlay expenditures which have resulted in the deficit in two funds, General and Road fund. -~¢r. Brazman was present at the meeting for a time, and agreed to co-operate with the council in presenting the facts to the public. ~;r. Bly and :,.~. White a. greed to work with ;,,~. Brazman on the explana- tory notes and article. Formal acceptance of the statement was deferred, because of questions the members wished cleared up by the Clerk. V, arious possibilities were discussed as methods of cutting expense~ in order to balance the budget. It was also observed ths, t the council is already obligated for the Central Ave. and Dell St. im- provements for next year. The matter of legal limitations on trane- fer of funds was also to be considered in making plans for the future. ~.fotion was made by Hr. Winkel, seconded by )~. Pierce, and carried, that existing salaries be authorized for payment for the month of Je~nuary. Dr. Davis asked that ~...~r. Bly serve s~s Public ~elations man for the council, until the m.`anager s~rrives. ~.:r. Bly eh'owed the plans for the new school building to the council members, pointing out that there was a possibility of some road- opening being necessary in this connection. Decision was deferred regarding tickets for '' ~ gzquo~ store stock pend- ing the manager's opinion. ' Purchase of new stationery deferred, to be checked for price quotations, and to await selection of manager so tha. t his name can be imprinted. ~.~rs. Gooder to be advised to purchase necessary supplies for present u~e. SELECTION OF ~' ~ ~'~:.~I~GER was discussed, recom~'~enda~ion having been re- ceived from l:~',r. Bert Newcomb who ha.d interviewed .~,[r. Robert Storey and expressed himself as hes. rtily in favor of this applicant. The Citizens Committee was reached by telephone, and stated that they could not make a committee recommendation since 50% of the committee had not had the opportunity to study },~.Storey's file, .also that they preferred to finish their work and then make a reco~m~endation of thre¢ or fou~ best candidates. However, they stated the council was at liberty to make a selection if they wished, but it ~ould not be considered to have been made upon committee recommendation. Of the committee, only ?,~r~..~lakson, ~r. L'cL~an, ~rs. P~.rdee, Dr. Huestis, and ~'.~r. Olson were reached at this time. VILLAGE OF MOUND 1/16/50 continued 1157 .:,~ction wae mad~ by Er.
