The regular meeting of the council was called to

~Jr. Winkel ~xpected later; ?~r. Pierce absent for cause.
Tho minutes of ~he :'?lay meetings were ~ead, and upon
motion by i~. Bly, seco~ by ?':r. '?~ite, ~.pproved..
Th~ vacating of Sroderick Ave. in connection with
thc n:oving of the G.N. crossing at ~eton wa~ discussed ~-
z. !felly
of the Grea~ Northern stated that the rom'real resolution requesting
the change had never been voted by the council, and this should be
taken care of to cloar up the matter finally.
In this co~,ection, the suggested pe:~eetrian crossing
at the old location ~ae discussed, and it wa~ a~eed that such a
crossing would constitute a hazard, ~..Tr. Kelly stating that the Rail-
road ~: Warehouse Commission would never approve such a crossing,
for reasons of safety. He proposed that the former c~oss~ ,~ be
:fenced off so that residents of the ar~a would ~ educated to use
of the new crossing.
The following resolution was offered by ;'{r. ~'~hite,
the motion being seconded by f,~r. Bly -
"That the ~roderick .Ave. crossing be vacated, in the
belief that the Great -~orthern Railway will barz'icade
the former crossing to prevent its use and to educate
citizens in use of the ~,~ontclair-?[aplewood crossing,
as a safety measure.,,
The 'motion was carried. !~r. Storey to publish ss. me for two weeks,
giving notice of hearing to be held.
:~r. Kelly promised to see to cleaning up the G.N.
right-of-way, and to removing the dip at the crossing on Central
~ve., but stated he could make no promise on the painting of the
d~pot.
After discussion with i::r. Kohout, .former liquor ~tore
manager, the council recommended he be allowed two weeks vacation.

There was thus no quorum of the council p~esent.
!ir. Brey$~te was present at the meeting to re-
quest council action on a drainage ditch through a lot he
owns next to the new lumber yard on Park Ave. A general
discussion developed, with ~r. Frank Groschen, ~(r. Lloyd
Bowers, Hr. Vern Von Eschen, l~r. Brazman, ~k'. Storey and
the counci.1 members ~articipating. It was agreed that there
api~eared to be no action the village could take in the mat-
ter.
The----~o~v~ .... firemen were present to request the
council's approval of the customary ~lO0.O0 expenditure for
expenses of delegates to the State miremen's Convention.
This was postponed to ~r. Winkel'~ arrival.
The firemen also requested the co-operation of
the council in the purchase of some new fire hose. After
discussion, it v~as agreed to advertise for bids on the
.,~. Eow~,~rs in the meantime ~o ~ect~e son's6
samples, and the matter tc be considered at the adjourned
meeting.
;'r. Brazman made the eugffestion that the council
consider the establishment of em on-sale liquor bar; the
matter was discussed briefly.
Requests fo~· restricted parking on Dell St. ne×t
the Red O~.~l Store, and on Park Ave. across from the Bus
DoDot wez'o considered. The mat~er of a 5-minute parking
zone in front of the post office was discussed also.
A request to park ?. house trailer next to the
telephone office building wa~ considered, also the two
existing trailers in the village, and it was agreed that
a decision must be made soon as to policy in this matter.

matter of funds for the firemen was reported to him, and
