1953-03-091394 VILLAGE OF MOUND Livingston (Yea), Litts (Yea), Pierce (Nay). The Manager then recommended the apointment of Bonham and Kavanagh as our Village Attorney. Livingston moved, Litts seconded that the Council approve the recommendation of the Manager. The vote on the re- solution was as follows: Livingston (Yea), Litts (Yea), Pierce (Nay)., ~Behmler (Yea). Livingston moved we advertise for a new police car, the car to be a police special. Pierce seconded, and it was carried unanimo u sly. The Manager recommended that Charles Whittaker and Ronald David be given a $10.00 a month increase in wages. Wenkstern moved, and Pierce seconded that the Manager's recommendation be followed. The vote on the resolution was as follows: Wenkstern (Yea), Pierce (Yea), Litts (Yea), Livingston (Nay). On motion duly made, seconded, and carried 'unanimously, the meeting was adjourned at 12:30 A.M. Present were Mayor Behmler, Trustees Livingston, Pierce, Wenkstern, and Litts, Manager Leikvold and Village Attorney Bonham. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February. 9, 1953 were read and on motion by Livingston, seconded by Pierce, were unani- mously approved as read. Village Manager. (~-12) REQUEST FOR BIDS The Village of Mound will re- ceive bids for a police car. Speeio fications are on file in the Mound Village office. Cash or' certified check equal to ten per cent (10%) of the total must accompany each bid. Bids will be opened at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, March 30, 1953, in the Village office. The Council reserves the right to reject, any or all bids. (3-12-19) VILLAGE OF MOUND 1397 Finances and whether the audit of our records should be done by the public examiner or a private firm was given a lengthy discussion. R. L. Wenkstern offered the following resolution, seconded by R. N. Litts: BE IT RESOLVED, thah the firmlof Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. be engaged to audit our books and records for the year ended December 31, 1952. The question was on the adoption of the resolution and the roll being called there were 3 Yeas and i Nay as follows: R. L. Wenkstern R. N. Litts Ed. J. Behmler Frank H. Livingston R. L. Pierce Yea Yea Yea ~ay Not voting and so the resolution was adopted. The Manager reported that he had not deposited the $15,000 in a Certificate of Deposit because he would not be able to withdraw it before the six months. Livingston moved, Pierce seconded and it was passed unanimously to deposit the $15,000 for six months. Litts moved, Pierce seconded, and it was passed unanimously that permission be granted Mr. Leikvold t© attend the following courses given by the League of Minnesota Municipalities and the University of Minnesota: Assessor's Course, March 12-14; City Manager Course, March 19-20; and either B. F. Winkel or Leikvold to attend the Water Course, March 16-18. Livingston moved, Pierce seconded, and it was passed unanimously after some discussion about the dog problem in the village that an ad be put in the paper outlining what the Coun- cil may be forced to do if dogs continue to constitute a nuisance, and that a series of informative news articles be run. Litts offered the following Resolution: BE IT RESOLVED, That the contract submitted by the Sub- urban Hennepin County Relief Board of the County of Hennepin for the administration and supervision of poor relief in the Village of Mound be accepted and approved: and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the proper officers of said Village of Mound be directed to execute said contract in duplicate and when executed to returh one of said contracts to the Suburban Hennepin County Relief Board. Present were Mayor Bebmler, Trustees Pierce, Livingston, Wenk- stern and Litts, Manager Leikvold and a large delegation of citizens. The Mayor asked the citizens if anyone had any objection to granting ~,,~alter G. Olson a permit to operate a mortuary, to be located in Shirley Hills, Unit F, Lots 24,25 & 26. No one answered. Pierce offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: Whereas, Walter G. 01son has duly applied, pursuant to Ordinance No. 46, as amended, for a special permit for the operation of a mortuary and funeral home to be located on Shirley Hills, Unit F, Lots 24, 25 & 26, Block 3, duly zoned Commercial in said Village, and, Whereas, the Council duly caused to be published in the March 12, 1953 issue of the Minnetonka Pilot, a Notice of Pub- lic Hearing on said application wherein notice was duly given that a public hearing on said application would be held before the Village Council at Joe Krause,.s.~basement om the 2~rd day of March, 1953 at 8:00 P.M., and, Whereas, said hearing was duly held at the said time and place and all persons present and interested in said application
