MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGbLAR MEETING, Aug. 25, 1953
Meeting was called to order at the Village Park Pavilion at
8:00 P.M. Present were Mayor Behmler, Trustees Litts and Living-
ston and Manager Leikvold.
The 1954 Budget was discussed. The Council directed the
Manager to get further information on the Firemen,s Relief Fund
and the P.I.R. Fund.
Livingston 'moved, Litts seconded, and it was unanimously carried
to t~Ve~t ~3,000 of the Poor Fund in a 6-mo. Certificate of Deposit.

MINUTES OF REGULAR ~.~ETING, September 14, 1953
Meeting called to order at 8:00 P.M. at the Mound Pavilion.
Present were Mayor Bekmler, Trustees Pierce & Wenkstern, Attorney
Bonham and Manager Leikvold. Trustees Livingston and Litts out
of town. About thirty citizens were also present.
Minutes of the regular meeting of August 10, 1953 were read.
Pierce moved, Litts seconded and it was unanimously carried to
approve the minutes as read.
Minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of August 17, 1953
were read, and on motion by Pierce and second by Wenkstern were

approved as read.
The minutes of the adj'ourned regular meeting of August 24, 1953
were read. Mayor Behmler made the correction that it was Roover
Lind.lan and not Leighton Lindlan who spoke about the drainage problem
in the vicinity of Chapman Avenue and Highway llO. ¥~ith this cor-
rection, Wenkstern moved~ Pierce seconded, end it was unanimously
carried to approve the minutes.
- The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of August 25,
19~3 were read, and on motion bv Pierce, seconded by Wenkstern and
unanimousl~ carried were approved as read.
DOG 0RDINANCE DOG ORDINANCE
Mayor Behmler opened the meeting with. the statement that this
was .the meeting at which action was to be taken on a,proposed dog
ordinance. He asked if any citizen present had anything further
to add to what had already been expressed at the Dog Ordinance
Hea~ing of August 10th.
Mr. 0berdeck presented a petition signed by 67 individuals
whic-h read to the effect that the model ord.i, nance was too severe
and would not solve any problem created by the dogs in the village.
It offered the suggestion that any further control Ordinances in
addition to ~,~bat is already on the village books should be directed
specifically at unlicensed and vicious dogs.
After some disc.~ssion, the matter was tabled until a full
council could be present.

BUILDING PERMITS
D. P. Jesson, .who owns a cabin on part of Blk 1, Lakeside Park
Abraham Lincoln,s Addition, was present and stated that he was
stopped from moving his cabin unto another lot because he did not
have a building permit. The Council informed him to take out a
building permit.
Wenkstern moved, Pierce seconded, and it was passed
to grant the following building permits:

Shirley Hills Drainage Problem
A letter from County Engineer L. P. Zimmerman was read urging
the Council and/or school board to take action on the dra£nage
problem at S~irley Hills School and on the curb and gutter along
Highway #125. Pierce stated that he was entirely opposed to the
situation going on down there and that he didn,t condone it at all.
PROJECT 5
Pierce moved, Wenkstern seconded, and it was unanimously
carried to transfer $100 from the Liquor Fund to Project 5 to cover
the deficit which exists.
PROJECT 7 - Engstrom
Pierce moved, Wenkstern seconded, and it was unanimously car-
ried to notify the County Auditor to cancel the remaining assessments
against the property of Mr. Engstrom ~ho has been assessed for a
water main that does not run in front of his lot.
DRAINAGE - Hiway 110 &
ChipmanAve.
The Council was of the opinion that the Manager could success-.
fully handle a drainage problem on Highway 110 and Chipman Avenue.
CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT
Action was withheld on the Certificate of Deposit until the
Council had time to consider the whole P.I.R. Fund.
Pierce moved', Wenkstern seconded, and it was unanimously car-
ried to adjourn at 9:45 p.m. to reconvene September 21 at 8:00 p.m.
