1953-12-141444 VILLAGE'OF MOUND MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, December 14, 1953 Meeting called to order at 8:00 P.M. at the Village Office. Present were Mayor Behmler, Trustees Litts and Wenkstern, Manager Leikvold and Attorney Bonham. Trustees Pierce and Livingston were out of town. Minutes of the regular meeting of November 9, 1953 were read. Mayor Behmler pointed out that the bond to be posted for the tem- porary building permit granted to Markson Company was in the amount of $1,000. The size of the bond was omitted in the minutes and should be included. With this addition, Litts moved, Wenkstern seconded and it was passed unanimously to approve the minutes. BARTENDER WAGERAISE (Grleshaber) Wenkstern moved the council adjust the wage scale of A. W. Grieshaber to conform with the Bartenders, Union raise, retroactive to October l, 1953 in the amount of $16.24 a month based on a 48- hour week. Litts seconded, and it was passed unanimously. PAY OF ELECTION CLERKS AND JUDGES Wenkstern 'moved, Lltts seconded and it was unanimously passed to pay one dollar an hour for election clerks and judges. The Council agreed to meet RURAL HENNEPIN COUNTY NURSING SERVICE The Council referred the resolution formally joining the Nurs- ing Service to the Village Attorney. SNOW REMOVAL On recommendation of Manager Leikvold, Litts moved, Wenkstern seconded, and it was unanimously passed to accept the arrangement with the State in which the State will pay the Village $4.00 an hour for the use of the Village tractor in removing snow along 144G, VILLAGE OF MOUND Highway #110 from the Ford Garage to Warhol,s Drug Store, the Village to furnish the trucks and the State to furnish a grader if they have one available; the State also to furnish the Village with the sand needed if the Village helps sand Highway #110. RESOLUTION TO BE SENT TO COUNTY Litts moved the following resolution: t,~EREAS, there exists within the limits of the Village of Mound, County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, certain roads known as County Highways #15, #44 and #125, and WHEREAS, the safety of the citizens of the Vil age of Mound and the Countv of Hennepin will be materially enhanced during the winter months by the prompt sanding of said County roads within said Village, and ~EREAS, in order to preserve the safety of said inhabitants, it was necessary for the. said Village to sand said roads on Novem- ber 29, 1953, November 30, 1953 and December 13, 1953, and ¥~EREAS, the Council of said Village b.a.s in mind the advis- ability of all political subdivisions of the State in cooperating with the safety program inaugurated by the Governor of said State, and, WHERE&S, the facilities of the Village of Mound are more readily available for sanding said roads during the winter months than the facilities of the said County of Hennepin, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Manager be and he is hereby directed to inquire of the County of Hennepin whether or not the equipment of the Village can be used for the sanding of said roads during the winter months of 1953 and 1954 · upon a for hire basis. Wenkstern seconded the resolution and it was passed unanimously. PETITION FOR CURB AND GUTTER - County Road #15 and #125 The Council has received a petition to install curb and gutter along County Road #15 from Highway 110 to the end of the "S" curve. The Council referred this to the Village Manager to have him check whether or not the petition has enough signers. Also to contact owners along #125 to see if they wish Curb and Gutter at this same time. VILLAGE ASSESSOR Action in regard to a Village Assessor for next Tear was post- poned until the January meeting. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Frank Groschen presented the 1953 Fire Department report. Mr. Groschen presented a bill in the amount of ~96.65 ~hich the Fire Chief had entailed without the consent of the Village VILLAGE OF MOUND 1447 Manager. Maneger. The Council left this up to the discretion of the Village On motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting adjourned at lO:00 P.M. to be reconvened December 28 at 8:00 P.M. ELECTION wenkstern offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: BE IT RESOLVED THAT: WHEREAS, on December 8, 1953, a General Election was duly held in the Village of Mound for the election of a Mayor for the term of two (2) years, a Trustee for the term of three (3) years, a Constable for the term of two (2) years and a Justice of the peace for a term of two (2) years, and, WHEREAS, the Judges for said election have duly counted the votes cast therein, proclaimed the results and recorded the same in the tally book provided for the purpose as follows: Mayor -- 2 years E.
