1954-09-27VILLAGE OF MOUND 1495 of Mound, to petition the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of the State of Mir~uesota to investigate and approve the opening and establishment of said street and for such other action by the Commission as may be deemed by it to be proper in the matter. 3. A certified copy of this resolution shall be attached to and accompany said petition. Attest: Village Manager MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING September 27, 1954 Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. Present were Mayor Behmler, Trustees Litts, Livingston, Pierce and Wenkstern, Attorney Bonham and Manager Leikvold. The Fire Department Budget was discussed. Pierce moved that: 1. The Fire Department budget be set at $4,644 and that an approximate contingency of $1,200 be made available as collected. 2. Monies from outside fire calls be collected by the Village as provided by law. 3. The men in the Fire Department be paid $2.00 per hour for fire calls. Litts seconded the resolution and it was carried unanimously. 1496 VILLAGE OF MOUND Pierce offered the following resolution and moved its adop- tion: WHEREAS, The Council of the Village of Mound has been negotiating with the Mound section of Local 918 Public Employees I.B. of T.C.W and H on the Matter of compensation and benefits for village employ- ees belonging to the union, and, WHEREAS, the Council has extensively considered the funds avail- able to the Village for the claendar year 1955, the proper distri- bution of said funds, the completion of the budget for the year 1955, the appropriate tax levy for the calendar year 1955 and the certification thereof before October 10, 1954, and WHEREAS, The Council has given comprehensive consideration to such compensation and benefits and has received from said union no proposals of any nature beyond its original demands, the Council has concluded that the following rates of compensation and benefits are in line with the level of such compensation and benefits paid by communities and enterprises in the Mound area and its vicinity for like positions and are consistent with the funds available for the year 1955, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT The Council instruct the Village Manager to propose to the union the following rates of compensation and benefits for Village employees belonging to said union: 1. Beginning January l, 1955, the following positions shall carry the maximum respective compensation set opposite each position. The foregoing maximums shall be attained b? the respec- tive employees as follows: 95% thereof as the beginning salary or wage; 97~ thereof after the employee has continuously occupied the position for one year begin- ning with the date of his employment; 100% thereof after the employee has continuously occupied the posi- tion for two years beginning with the date of his emplo.vment. 3. Save for police, time over a work week of 44 hours shall be compensated for at the rate of time and one- half rate of pay. 4. Employees shall have the following Holidays with pay: New Years, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and one-half day Good Friday. Sundays shall not be considered holidays. 5. Save for police, emergency work on holidays shall carry double the rate of pay. ' 6. Beginning January l, 1955 accumulated sick leave at one day per month to a maximum of 30 days. 7. Two weeks vacation with pay after the employee has con- tinuously occupied the position for one year beginning with the date of his emplo.vment. 8, An employee shall be credited with time accumulated toward the maximum specified in Paragraph~ i above, even though the date of his employment antedates January 2, 1955, but no maximum or percentage thereof shall be paid until on and after January l, 1955 and shall not be retroactive.
