SHADYWOOD POINT - Orono Section
Mr. Lippert and Mr. & Mrs. John Hurley of the Orono part of Shadywood Point
were present with members of the Village Council of Orono: Mayor H.R. Ross,
Trustees C. R. Quady and R. M. Franzel and Administrator Boll. They informed
the Council that a hearing had been held on November llth relative to a
petition requesting detachment from Orono and annexation to Mound, and they
had sent a resolution to the Minnesota Municipal Commission. The Orono Coun-
cil said the Village of Orono was reluctant to give away any of its property
unless by so doing they could better assure their citizens of water and sewer
service and other expected services. They wondered if it would be possible
to serve these people by a contract arrangement. The Mound Council informed
them that they had been approached by citizens of other nearby villages and
that they would not be in favor of contracting. The Orono Council then won-
dered if this part of Shadywood were annexed to Mound whether these services
would be available to these citizens. They were assured that it ~uld be
treated as a part of Mound and that upon petition for service.they would be
given the same consideration.~
Mr. Lippert handed the Village Manager a petition with f the owners'
signatures and the Orono Council said they would formulate a new resolution
and send it to the Minnesota Municipal Commission. The Mound Council turned
the matter over to their legal counsel.

THREE POINTS WATER SUPPLEMENT HEARING
At the time the Three Points Water Assessment was adopted on September 10, 1963
there were two parcels overlooked - Lot 6, Block 11, Dreamwood owned by Ann Merten
and Lot 6, Block 6, Woodland Point owned by R. H. Gerberding. Waivers of the
notice of hearing set for November 19, 1963 were received from both of them, so
notices were not necessary. R. H. Gerberding appeared and said though he was not
opposed to paying an assessment, he did think his assessment of $228.90 was ex-
cessive. There was no water main laid in front of his property to which he could
connect. This necessitated his getting an easement across his neighbor's lot for
which he paid $85.00. In addition, he had had to pay some $110 for copper tubing
running the full length of his neighbor's lot. The assessment on forty-foot lots
as adopted in September was $152.60~ Batdorf moved, Ofeifer seconded to ammend
the Supplemental Assessment Roll for Lot 6 Block 6 Woodland Point from $228.90 to
$152.60. The vote was unanimously in favor; so carried.
