Lateral Main Assessment
NOTICE TO OW!iERS OF COMMERCIAL PROPERTY:
Because of inequities which have become apparent in the
review of the ~roposed assessment roll, the 7z!la~e
Coumcil has developed the following criteria as t~e point
of departure for the assessment of comercial!y-zoned
property. These criteria ap[~ear to more fairly assess
the benefit enjoyed by a comerciall~--zoned 0roperty.
A~plication of these criteria may alter the assessment
for some commercially-zoned properties.
Althou?~ the law does not req?ire any notice s~ch as
this, and altho~gh this information cou].d have been
acquired by attendance at the contfnued sessions of t~e
assessment hearings, the Cc':ncil bas ~rovided that t~is
notice be sent to ass~re that yo,~.~ are f'~lty informed.
The standard weighting of commercial .footao-e at 120% of
residential footage has been retained. A ~ifty foot
minimum has been imposed which will eq.~ate a minim~m
commercial assessment to a minimum residential assessment.
Corner co~z~sercis. 1 pro[erties wVere mains have been
installed on bot~ sides will be assessed for all of t~:e
front street footage ?lus 2~?] of side street footaf!:e.
You are reminded that, as annc~nced at the first session
of the assessment hearing, the attended assessment ro~l
will be available for ins~:~ection in my office from
