MINUTES OF SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 2 19 7
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 AM, at the city hall. Members
present: Mayor Steve Smith, Phyllis Jessen, Liz Jensen, Skip Johnson and
Don Abel. Absent: none. Also present: Leonard Kopp and Ed Shukle,..Ci:ty
Manager.
Mayor Smith asked Mr. Kopp to make an opening statement why he wanted to
be considered for the position on the LMCD. Following the interview with
Mr. Kopp, the Council discussed the appointment. It was moved by Don Abel,
seconded by Liz Jensen to appoint Tom Reese to serve on the LMCD from the
City of Mound. It was then moved by Skip Johnson, seconded by Mayor Smith
to amend the motion to~appoint Tom Reese contingent upon him stepping down
from the Planning Commission. The vote was then taken on the amendment.
The following were in favor: Johnson, Smith, Abel and Jensen. Nayes:
Jessen. The vote was then taken on the original motion. The vote was
unanimously in favor. Mayor Smith then called Tom Reese. Mr. Reese then
indicated he would let Mr. Smith know by Sunday evening, whether or not
he would accept the appointment. It was then moved by Phyllis Jessen,
seconded by Don Abel and carried unanimously to appoint Leonard Kopp as
alternate representative if Mr. Reese declined.
The LMCD legislation issue was briefly discussed. =1t was decided to put
it on the next work session agenda.
It was then moved by .Don Abel and seconded by Liz Jensen to adjourn the
meeting.
